Any ideas?  What have others on here done?  I am looking for homebrew ideas.  The key is realistic.  The only thing I can think of is rc car receiver and remote and have it operate a target stand.  Then to have a friend operate unknowingly.  This could get pricey though.  Something a little more KISS would be alot better.

It would be much easier to rig up a rope and pulley system and have your friend be pulling the string to make the target move.  There are numerous ways to get a target moving just check out youtube.

I couldnt get the link to work?  As far as a friend with a pulley?  What if the target is at 100 yards?  Awfully long rope to get them behind the shooter!

RC Car

3 foot wooden dowel.

Balloon

Attach the dowel to the car so it's sticking up. Attach the balloon to the dowel.

Have friend drive down range and move unpredictably.

Up the difficulty by using a helium filled balloon simply tied to the car.

Tao is on to something!  There has to be more though.  Are most of you guys just punching paper?

I know two guys that are both snipers on the same tac team.  They sometimes will take about 10-12 helium filled ballons and tie them together in a long string.  They use several different colors and someone calls a color and they each have to shoot one without hitting anything else.

It is much tougher than it looks.  Even a slight breeze blows a line of 10 ballons pretty good.

Any moving targets I have used were with a rope.  The really good ones are really really expensive.

I like the helium ballon on a RC car.

The range of most ready to run RC cars under $100 or so is only going to be maybe 25-50 yards max and your battery run time is going to be about 15-20 minutes.

If you get one that is good out to 100+ yards, it is likely going to cost several hundred bucks or more, especially if you get a few extra batteries and such to allow you to shoot for a couple hours.

There's always force on force (airsoft/paintball) training or small game hunting if you want truly realistic moving targets.

If you can live with a .22 capable moving target, there's this one ->Caldwell Shooting Gallery

It all depends on exactly what kind of "realism" you are trying to create and how much you want to spend to get you there.
