| This will be my first time going and need to know from someone who's been before, what are the rules, what should I take (table,chair,etc.),min. age (want to take my son), best time to go ? I've read that someone has been setting up traps, any other info will help. |

Unless you like sitting on dirt or large rocks yeah you should bring a table and chairs. The place isn't manned by the DNR or anything so target checks have to be coordinated amongst everyone shooting there (have fun with that). I would try to go on a weekday. Not nearly as busy as the weekends and therefore less chance that some schmuck with a chrome plated AK will accidently blow you up with tannerite. Have fun and don't forget the body armor. |

A thread not too long back indicated someone - believed to be a local - was putting "spike strips" in the dirt. Ruined a tire or two. Be ware. I went there a few times. In my mind the place is pretty bad. I haven't been there in over four years. No intentions of ever going back. Best of luck and enjoy shooting! MHO, YMMV, etc. |
Yeah, but you're one bad mother fucker. I've never felt "unsafe" as in I was going to be jacked, but I wouldn't leave guns unsecured / unattended at the line / vehicle while going down range. I was there two weeks after the spike incident. I found no spikes and parked on the inside of the treeline. It was a Saturday morning any we had the place to ourselves for three hours before the rain moved in. I still don't like shooting there. Too damned filthy. |

Be aware of the "firing line" You will be up near the rocks but some guy will be shooting 10 yards behind you using his pick up truck to steady his shotgun aim. He will be completely oblivious to the fact that you are probably standing in the line of fire. Just keep an eye on everyone. Also if someone starts to bump fire and they are standing behind the rocks, well TELL them that they need to move forward so it doesn't ricochet. Just act like your in change if someone is a jerk. The other way is to just go there and step up and dump 30 rounds out of your machine gun as if its completely normal. No one will bother you after that. |
I actually heard a Westland LEO call them that last week when my bike was stolen (second time for me). She had some very accurate, and discreet, things to say about the direction that Westland is headed. You can drive down any major artery in Westland now and it looks just like Detroit from a Demographic standpoint. You guys can't understand the difference in crime between now and when interest rates dropped and people moved into better houses/out of apartments. I'm half hoping that the economy tanks and they move back to wherever they came from. I've been burglarized, had vehicles stolen, and broken into. I'm ready for them to leave or I'll have to. |
There are about a thousand videos of The Pit on You Tube and some other sites already.
T.O.D. - It's not just your area...it all over S.E. Michigan. 105% no money down financing brought in all the cock sucking, Obama loving, trailer dwelling, teeth missing, vine swinging, inbreeding, rotten mother fuckers with ghetto bred rottweilers and $500 cars with $2000 rims (purchased on a home equity line of credit). Slowly but surely, they are disappearing from my subdivsion. |

I went there yesterday and there's more trash there than any other time I've been there. I got bored so I went to Williams Gunsight to look for a decapping pin for one of my Lee dies and pic up a couple of boxes of ammo to test out a new AR upper I just got. I got soaked but I didn't have to worry about anyone else! |
I do not enjoy involving myself in other's affairs and almost always seek to avoid trouble. In this case though, I would make an exception to confront and possibly document litters if I had my camera w/ me. Damn slobs.
Actually, you probably do want to be apart of what ever made that peice of property like that. You probably do not want to be a part of what ever made that peice of property like that.

As I previously stated, I haven't been there in years and don't ever plan to go back. Even back then it looked like many locals were using it as a free dump for all their trash, broken appliances, blown transmissions, etc. I wonder what one faction of the locals would do for a free trash dump if another faction got their wish and the state shut it down. MHO, YMMV, etc. |
