| Do you guys know of any rifle ranges in the area of Brighton? (In the SE part of the lower peninsula, by where 23 and 96 meet). I currently go to the island lake shooting range, but they are kind of overly strict in that you can only have 6 rounds loaded at a time, no rapid fire, bla bla bla...I have heard of the livingston conservation association, but I guess you can only shoot paper there. I have heard of "the pit" in lapeer, but I would prefer something close to home if possible. Any ideas are welcome. |

www.livingstongunclub.org I don't really know what their day-to-day rules are, but they host tons of competitive shooting events so I can't imagine they are ultra strict. I took my NROI Range Officer class there and they have some good facilities and all the crew involved in their USPSA/IPSC operations seem like good guys. |
YES and YES........! |

LGC has six pistol bays, one rifle bay (~100 yards), and a 'jungle run' shotgun course. Our ranges operate on the honor system. Members in good standing have the run of the club. The rifle bay has target hangers every 25 yards. We don't allow full auto but there's no speed limit for semi-auto. There is an assortment of rifle steel at the 100 yard line for those who like to bang the gong. I'm not sure what the exact policy regarding .50 is but we do a New Years day .50BMG shoot (semi only). Last year it was Tannerite and bowling balls. Not sure what they have in mind for this year. LGC is primarily an action pistol club and hosts two IPSC matches per month. One on the first Sunday and one on the fourth Sunday, March through October. All matches are open to the public. Every pistol bay has an assortment of falling steel and wooden stands suitable for hanging IPSC/IDPA/D1 targets. The steel targets are handgun/shotshell only. They're mild steel and can't take rifle rounds or shotgun slugs. 3D Archery is our newest program. We set up a course in the woods behind the pistol bays. It's small now but will be expanded next Spring. We're working on adding Skeet/Trap/Clays. Anyone interested in checking us out can come to a monthly meeting. The next one is December 2 at 0900. Check www.livingstongunclub.org (assuming it's working) for more info. ETA: LGC is on Hunter road in Brighton |
Shoot some matches and make good with people...I knew Delta prior to becoming a member, that was 1 for me..then I shot a few matches got to know a few people then asked. |
Getting sponsors is easy. At the start of each monthly meeting we introduce prospective members. You get to tell the folks about yourself. That breaks the ice. Don't worry if you don't recognize anyone. We're a friendly bunch. |
I saw that you had a meeting on December 2. So, I guess I might go to that, and also, I saw something about getting half off membership if you signed up after Sept something? |
Yes, but that is only for the remainder of the year, IIRC. |
Bummer...I am checking into the Linden Sportsmen Club too...Any info on them? |
Anyone who joins after October is good through the next year. That said, if you come to the December meeting you would be eligible at the January meeting. That makes it next year anyway. |

Price should not be the reason you pick one club or the other. If they have everything you want and allow all you want to do that is what matters. If I do ever join a club it will be the LGC I have friends that have been members in the past and all were very happy, they also seem to have the most black rifle/Tactical friendly range and membership out there. |
I see where you are coming from. The LGC will be my next choice if the LSC doesn't work out. |
