OK, Doesn't look like the other thread "build party" is going. Some of you don't have kits or parts or cash you put in. You may be out of luck. I can't help you there. But I can offer the opportunity to at least get together and try to bend some flats, weld rails, rivit some trigger guards and fit some trunnions. You bring all your own stuff, parts, flats, rails, RIVITS and US PARTS. I will supply tools, spot welder, jigs, etc. Also a torch to heat treat. Enough to get you started and see how far we get in one day. Start about 9:30. I am near 8 mile and Telegraph Road, in Redford. We could probably do three, maybe four guys with flats. Observers welcome. I don't have a bbl press, but I do have a wooden 2x4, a freezer for your bbl and a torch for the trunnion and a large hammer for the fearless. Don't send me any money or parts. Just let me know who is comming and I'll help/watch you build your own semi-receiver and you can say I did it myself. I have a build book, have built several kits, and ruined a few too. I check this site every few days so just let me know who is interested. The date is firm. If you can make it great, if not maybe I will try to schedule one late in the fall. Don't post stuff in this thread about the old thread. Thanks.

Did you get those from Todd? I would like to be in, but I would like to get my cash back from Todd first. Still haven't heard from him. |
|
nope... my kits are from weaponeer and other vendors..... i actually left todd a voice mail about contacting us, or giving the kits or money back... but i didnt actually speak to him.... im headed out to the gunshow in BR then maybe ill try driving out there.... i was wanting to do it on a weekday, prob more chance of him being home.... |
|
Todd called me back today.... he said some local people around him received kits, and he was waiting on some more kits... and will refund any money if you dont want to wait for kits.... he said he would contact a few people today besides me.... i dont think he is a bad guy... he wasnt doing this as a buisness but as a hobby and we all know that anyone of us ca get caught with to many things going on and that this was one of the many things that have been put on the back burner.... now... to decide what to do next... if anyone wants to go in and buy some nodak 100% receivers we could find a local ffl and buy buld and get a little discount and then just need to demill our kits and rivet em back together... or we can continue with the idea of bending flats.... either way i am a go.... but you might want to buy some kits while there around... they are startign to be hard to find.... MichMan are you set on the date of the 9th? i will be up norht on a cannoe trip at that time... but ill see what the exact date is.... |
Saw Todd today, and he made good on his word. I'm going to buy some kits ASAP, and try to get them in by the 9th. I'd like to bend them, but a nodak spudd recv. seems like the way to go. |

Date is firm as my Summer is filling up. I have a few rivit tools. Hand held, modified bolt cutter and impact driver with riviter. As far as flats, its up to you, I have had good luck with the Tapco flats with pre-drilled holes. Either OK with Rommy. If you are building a Yugo then those flats wont work. I suggest a no-dak yugo. You also need longer rivits for Yugo from ak-builders. Also if you are building a folder, the rear has to be modified, I suggest a flat without holes. I suggest you check out No-Dak Spud and read over the Soup to Nuts series on AK builds and also at AK builder: www.nodakspud.com/page2.htm www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/souptonuts1/index.asp www.ak-builder.com/ak/index.php |

OK, At this point I have Sokarr-yes Madmatthew-possible uofmguy68-yes Jetset9c1-possible Madmatthew and Jetset9c1, in or out? I need to plan. Others? Also try to demill your kits as much as possible. Like getting the rivets out of that rear trunnion, and the trunnion out of the receiver, if possible. We can do the rest here. Should be fun. |
