Walberg defeats Schwarz in 7th District congressional race 8/8/2006, 11:49 p.m. ET By KEN THOMAS The Associated Press DETROIT (AP) — Republican challenger Tim Walberg upset Rep. Joe Schwarz in Tuesday's GOP primary in southern Michigan, using a staunchly conservative message and help from the Washington-based Club for Growth to defeat the first-term congressman. With 73 percent of the precincts reporting, Walberg had 55 percent, or 26,295 votes. Schwarz had 45 percent, or 21,617 votes. Schwarz called Walberg to concede the race, both campaigns said. |
GREAT NEWS! I hope he wins in November! |
| He will..but the Democratic challenger, Sharon Renier, is a gunnie, too. A granola crunching liberal in a lot of ways, but pretty fiscally conservative and very pro-gun. I voted for her over Schwarz last time. Still, she has a snowballs chance in hell of beating Walberg in the general. |
Pro-gun is my only criteria, thats great news. |

Walberg spoke at my church's Men's breakfast last Friday morning. He said it would be a close race, but the 53% to 47% win was greater than was expected. When the conservatives, sportmen, and gun owners get together and really show what a canditate stands for, results happen. I still do not know why the NRA endorsed Schwarz over Walberg. Walberg clearly has the greater pro-gun stance. On a plus side for me, he is a very conservative Christian. The primary victories were much easier than the November elections will be. These races were between Republicans and conservatives, but the November races will be between conservative and liberal ideals. There are a lot of liberal idiots that will vote for Stab-me-now, Granholm, and others just because they are Democrats while ignoring the real issues. |
Yup. They are crediting bloggers with wrecking Lieberman, we should all get our collective shit together and wreck Stabenow. When she showed up at our "Welcome Back From Iraq" event, trying for her photo-op I refused to shake her hand, Granholm's too, when she welcomed our bus back. |
