| I noticed you're in clio or near it. Can you shoot on your land in that city? I'm thinking of moving up there but want o have land I can shoot on. |

There really isn't any land to shoot on in the city (which is about 1 SQ Mile) but outside of the actual city things open up. Most all of the land is private, no established shooting ranges. Many (such as myself) are fortunate enough to be able to step out the back door and let bullets fly, although I refrain from shooting centerfire rifles. The city of Clio is in Vienna Township, of which there is some property available that would be suitable for shooting. The other township (Thetford) is much more rural. FWIW, Thetford has one of the lowest property tax levels in Mid-Michigan. Steve |

Actually, I'm closer to Montrose than Clio. Here, I can shoot on my property. I have only about 2 acres, but there's a 40 foot blue clay hill on the back of my property that makes for a safe backstop, and since the neighbors also shoot there's not been been any discord around here. Also, there is rural land available in the Clio area, but the area is growing quickly. The fields my grandfather and once hunted are now shopping malls and fast food joints. And, "suburbia" is starting to move to the outlying regions as one time farms become housing developments. I would second the notion of checking out property in Thetford Township: it's still very rural there. Regards - paddle3 |
