Evening all

I see next weekend is a show in Birch Run.  How are these shows?  I have not been up to one, but it is only a 30 minute drive for me.  Any regulars that have good deals I shoudl look at?  I was looking for some ammo and maybe some more HI-Cap mags fro my Sig's

I wouldn't waste my time (unless you need beef jerky or flea market stuff).

It's a good show for looking at guns. Prices are about what you would see in the various shops around the state. Used guns are usually high.

I go for the decent ammo prices from AmmoStore.com.

Greetings -

I reside very near BR and have not missed a show there since the BR "Expo Center" started hosting "funshows."

Yes, there are some ammo "deals" to be had: .223., .308, 7.62X39, pistol calibers, 12 gauge, ect.... Look for a vendor in the "north hall" - against the wall adjacent to a backside exit door: he's a middle aged guy with graying hair (like mine!) and his name is Doug. He and I have done a fair amount of business over the past few years, and once you establish a relationship with the gentleman - he'll most likely cut you some "preferential" pricing. ( One of my last transactions: I bought out his entire stocks of 9mm S&B for $5 per 50)

Doug basically sells ammo. Although, he does have an assortment of AR mags, AR spare parts, and M1A accesories.

Is that the guy with the uppers that have shorty triangular hand guards?
Anybody know the story on those?

Stryfe -

The fellow of which I commented is mostly an ammo source, with AR parts, and M14 mags. Personally, I have bought M4 handguards from him, but don't know about the shorty uppers with triangular grips. However, I do believe that he does stock some uppers: configurations - unknown.... Perhaps, his stock changes. Dunno....

I will be attending the "funshow" on Saturday, and may be helping attend a FFL friend's tables. His shop is "Wingshooters" - or - if you attend, and see a bearded, graying, middle aged man with short brown hair walking aroung attired in gray slacks, white "Costa Rica" T, and a navy blue North Face jacket - please feel free to introduce yourself. I readily answer to, "Are you perchance paddle3?"

Let's hope BR is another good funshow! I need ammo, and M14 mags!!

Yes, you are correct: this is the "guy" with the shorty triangular handguards. (Sorry, I didn't check out pricing on these...)

However, he does have some SA .223 in  2700 round "tubs" ("tubs at $440 per 2700) - also, PORT .308 at $165 per thousand. Too, "cheap 7.62X39 at $80 per k.  However, don't look for any S&B 9mm: I wiped him out at $5 per box. Sorry.....

About $550, but they had brass deflectors. I only saw one guy selling A1 uppers sans deflector, and they looked like they were dug out of a swamp.
