We have the start of a good group. My offer to host at our place in Moscow stands. Bring lawn chairs grills what ever. If you want to snap a cap you can. Probably gonna be muddy but we can work it out.

Quoted: Ok re: the 1/23/21 meet up I propose the following time blocks then we vote which gets the best response 8:00-10:00 am. 11:00-1:00. 2:00-4:00 etc. I really think this is important. Let’s put this together. These meetings can have real purpose. We could have topic specific meetings. Like radio training and programming, maybe trade or share reloading components or other parts. There are a lot of areas we could support each other in. Gonna have some challenging days ahead. View Quote Good with this 11:00-1:00 is probably the best |

I'm seeing a lot of interest in ham radio basics & Baofeng programming.
I'm an extra class amateur radio nerd in the Memphis area. I could potentially put something together for those interested. At the very least, a CHIRP file for the 5r with local repeaters. Can't do anything for this month, 'rona has got me behind on work. Delta Amateur Radio Club (DARC) is the big club for the Memphis area, and they had been putting on some good beginner-level instruction, as well as license classes in-person locally. That is all on hold due to the 'rona. They are now doing Zoom meetings if anyone is interested in checking it out. 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7PM. For those in the Memphis area with 'fengs, the Delta Club net is every night at 8PM on the 146.82 repeater, which is also the SKYWARN repeater. Just turn the radio to "frequency mode" and type in 146.820 to listen in. If anyone is interested in actually being able to use and practice with their radios, you gotta get licensed. It is not hard at all. I've seen young children do it, easily. Read this guide and take some practice tests online or in a phone app (most are free). The question pools for each license class are posted online. That is literally every question that may be on the test. No excuses! Hell, some places are even doing Zoom tests for those using their laziness as an excuse to not make it to an in-person test. Feel free to reach out with any other questions. My availability is limited right now, but I'd be happy to help where I can. For general questions, visit our very own ham forum, the best on the 'net! Search and read first before asking "stupid" questions. We are a really helpful bunch, but "how do I program my 'feng", "what frequency are you guys on", "how far can I talk" have been asked and answered hundreds of times. Its all so tiring Start HERE. |

Definitely interested in learning. Been thinking about learning and getting a license. Need to get to reading cause I'll be starting at ground zero with no clue. One @ar-jedi got me hooked with one of these cheap 'feng threads. Something along the lines of getting your license and on the air for less than $50. The price has gone down since then. Thousands of dollars later, I'm hooked. That said, you can have a great setup for much less. Much like getting a new shooter a PSA AR for $500. He can get that and 100 rounds of ammo and be happy. Or, he can be hooked and end up with 50 guns and an ammo fort. Different strokes, but either is good. Again, this isn't a "turn the knob to channel 2" type situation, there is a bit of easy, basic knowledge required. Don't listen to the retards in the GD "Baofeng Deal" threads. I don't even click on those anymore. The same shit-stirrers are in every single one playing couch commando. |

East of Jackson, so Moscow is about an hour and a half drive for me but not a problem. No gas, grass or ass for the barter - but I'm willing to listen and learn. |

I will think about it. If it was just my oldest two boys (8 and 5) I would no problem. They are well behaved. My youngest (3), however, is hell on wheels and I dont like beating him in front of people I just met ??. Seriously, that child has given me more gray hairs than I ever imagined. Good thing hes also causing it to fall out so nobody can tell.

I am bringing out a small gas tabletop grill. If anyone wants to grill something, it is available for use. I am planning on picking up some brats and buns.
