I know there have been threads in GD and the Georgia HTF about Dragon*Con, but does anybody here attend the ChattaCon, ConNooga, or LibertyCon science fiction/fantasy/supernatural conventions in Chattanooga?  The group I'm part of usually has a pretty good sized shooting trip during LibertyCon (we took 54 shooters to Prentice Cooper State Park last year, looking at possibly renting a range for this next year as that's too many people for that range, especially with the modifications made to reduce the possibility of shots over berms and such).  All three conventions are held at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, ChattaCon is this weekend, ConNooga is late next month, and LibertyCon is the end of June.

I haven't been to a science fiction/fantasy con since the early 1990s.  Mostly Kubla and Xanadu in Nashville, but I went up to Louisville (Rivercon?) a few times, and Worldcon when it was in Atlanta in the 1980s.  There was at least one more that I made it to, but I can't remember the name, and can't remember for certain where it was (maybe Hunstville?).

I don't think I ever made it to Chattacon, though.

ETA:  A few years back, my daughter dragged me to a comic con.  Seemed to be a lot of similarities to the cons I had been to before she was born, but after a couple passes through the huckster room (or whatever they called it at a comic con) and watching the Japanese drum group's demonstration, I was bored.

When I lived near Atlanta, I went to DragonCon several times.  Very large, loud and weird.  Excellent party atmosphere.
This summer, we went to LibertyCon for the first time.  Used some Marriott points to stay nearby, and had an excellent time.  Got to spend quality time with several of our favorite authors, went to most of the discussion were were interested in, and spent some money on cool stuff.  A much more laid-back and personal atmosphere than other cons I had been to.  We'll be back!

Try to make it Thursday evening, we do the range trip early Friday morning, its not an official con event, but is coordinated with the convention staff and many of the convention guests attend.
