I'm gonna be in Memphis this weekend and need to waste a day Thursday. Any suggestions on what to do?
I was thinking of seeing the Underground Railroad museum but that only takes up a few hours. |

Graceland. Is it really worth seeing or just a tourist trap? I live 1.5hr away, and I have never been. But folks come from all over the world to see it. I guess it depends on if you like Elvis or not. Me, not so much. Sun records would interest me more. |
| World class zoo. The Pink Palace Muesum is well worth going to. You have to go to Interstate BBQ at least once...Food there is amazing. Somebody mentioned the Flying Saucer...If you like craft beer you must go. Avoid Orange Mound...Lots to see there but you prolly do not have enough ammo. |

Zoo is among the top 3-5 best in the country, I'd say on par with the National Zoo in DC. Skip all of that other shit. Check into the Peabody, visit the Saucer for some afternoon drinks, hit Rendezvous for dinner if you want BBQ or the Flying Fish if you want some casual stuff. Get back to the Peabody in time to quack at the ducks and take pictures to act like you did some wholesome stuff while you were in town. Pro tip: Pretending to hump the ducks is frowned upon by the hotel staff. Go back to your room and put on your mad pimpin' clothes, then stop by the Peabody lounge in the evening - the whores are a plenty. Go to Beale and do what you need to do... live music, plenty to see, some good eats and more drinks. Upon your glorious return, witness the same chicks, now just far more intoxicated, disheveled, and thoroughly impressed by your amazing ability to quote Kenny Powers Season 1. To end the night, muster up your absolute best Matthew McConaughey impression, find the right one and ask if you can pee in her butt. Just remember to say please. Everything I said above except for the zoo you can do within walking distance of the Peabody. Be sure to also look up where 201 Poplar is in reference to the suggested agenda. http://i39.tinypic.com/4vpnqq.gif Peabody-check Saucer-check Hump ducks- couldn't get close enough Zoo-tomorrow Beale st-tomorrow night 201 poplar-seems shady, and doesn't allow CCW or open carry. |

Graceland is cool if you try and put yourself back in the time era. Most stuff there, not many people had it back then. This. Went there with the wife and daughter back when she was at U of M. Never was much of an Elvis fan, but I came away impressed. It's in a now-run-down area, but they have plenty of security and act happy to see you. 40MIKE |
