An accused would-be robber who was shot by a 68-year-old South Nashville woman as he made entry into her home is now out of the hospital and in jail. Alberto Romo Camacho, 30, who was hit in the face by the homeowner’s shotgun blast as he and his accomplices broke into her Glencliff Road home at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center this afternoon. Part of Camacho’s right index finger was also shot off. Camacho is charged with attempted aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $50,000. His co-defendants, Dorian Guzman, 28, Oliver Rodriguez, 32, and Marlon Rameriz, 26, were charged Saturday with attempted aggravated robbery and remain in jail. http://www.police.nashville.org/news/media/2011/08/01d.htm
I'm sure all these young amigos were just here trying to support a family.
Wonder if ole Elliott Ozment will defend them like he defended the illegal who was handcuffed to her bed during pregnany labor? He seems to think illegals can do NO wrong................. |
| I was thinking the same thing. I've been using 7 1/2 shot for home defense thinking it will be enough. Now I'm considering a change. That being said, anybody know what happens after a HD shooting? Who cleans that stuff up and can you send the bill to the offender's power of attorney? |

Looks like she just caught him with the outside of the pattern. May of missed completely if she was using proper home defense ammo. As I recall, a news report stated that she hit one or two of the other home invaders, giving them less serious injuries, with the same shot. Wonder what choke she was using? |

Who cleans that stuff up and can you send the bill to the offender's power of attorney? There are companies/people who specialize in HazMat clean-up. One's homeowners insureance usually covers it. As for using birdshot, y'all have to remember that it was a female who shot this thug. She may not be able to handle the higher recoil of some #4 or some 00 buck, IMO. For those who say birdshot is ineffective, step right up & allow me to use you as a test...................

I don't want to be shot with a .22short, but that doesn't mean it is an effective or prefered round for self defense. I'm glad this lady had a weapon and used it. But had this been a more determined or drugged up attacker, the wounds inflicted by birdshot would not have stopped him.

We may need to agree to disagree, but this particular thug got one eye shot out & his face peppered & it wasn't even a direct hit (as I understand it). A center-of-mass hit with birdshot would most certainly take down a meth head most ricky tick, IMO. |
| I'm more concerned with her safety, especially possible probable reprisals when they let these thugs back out on the street next week after they appear in court. It does appear as though this guy got the outside of the pattern, could of been a perfect shot placement with her getting the others as well, aiming for the center of the threat |

Any data out there on the likelyhood of reprisals after a failed home invasion? It wouldn't make me sleep better at night, but I've always wondered if the thought was overblown or something to heed. Well, this is certainly not unheard of in other parts of the country. I seem to recall some urban gangbangers who attempted to (or did) intimidate some witnesses for a court trial a bit back. I don't really recall too much of payback issues here in Nashville, AFAIK. Memphis might be a different matter, however. My .o2 |
