| Anyone know the current wait time from submitting until receipt of CCW? |
It varies depending on which region is processing your paperwork & how many mouth breathers are working for the state that week. My initial one took 88 days out of the allotted 90 days they have to do one. Around day 85 or so I called the Nashville office & the woman told me they had almost everyone but one person in that section quit in the last 2-3 weeks. Seems like they don't like working for $500 a month while being required to not make any mistakes on the permits.
Some folks have gotten theirs back in as few as 35-40 days, one guy I know had his take almost 6 months & an intercession by a House Rep. to get it done. When dealing with state employees, there's absolutely nothing guaranteed except uncertainity. My .o2 |

This thread reminded me that mine expires in just over six months, so I checked the state website to see what my options were to start the renewal process.
Best I can remember, the last time I had to renew, the state sent me a form to renew by mail, a few months before my permit expired. From what is on the state website, it looks like I now have to request that form by calling the state and asking them to mail me the form. I then have to submit the completed form with a check or money order for the $50 renewal fee (and I just used my last check, last week, so I have to order more checks before I can renew by mail Would be nice if they had it set up to renew online and pay the fee with a credit card, but that would simplify the process, reduce the odds of forms being misread by state employees, and probably speed things up.
ETA: Are they still requiring a copy of a birth certificate if you renew at the station, but not requiring it if you renew by mail? |

I didn't send my birth certificate when I did mine in November/December. It took two to three weeks to get a renewed permit. |

"A permit holder can submit a Renewal Application at any Driver Service Center or renew by mail. To receive a renewal application by mail call (615) 251-8590." Could just be a poor choice of wording, but it sounds like they no longer send out the form to remind you that your permit is about to expire, and require you to ask that they send you the form. |

Thanks guys. Now I get to tell my Minister he gets to wait from 2 weeks to 3 months. LOL He goes to his class tomorrow in Lebanon. Nothing like a Preacher with a Bible in one hand and a Glock in the other! Sure there is. When I went through the Instructor's Course one of my classmates was a Baptist Preacher. He's a fairly active Instructor up in the louisville area. |

I posted this before in another thread like this when it came up. When I submitted mine, I waited 2 weeks and called the number. Just said was checking the status of my application. One of the ladies told me they had it, and was waiting on Local LEO check to come back. I said OK and hung up. Called the following week, and same thing. Called the 4th week, and was told that looked good to go, and should be sent out by the end of the week. Sure enough the following Tues. it was in the mail. Now while I was talking with the lady on the phone, I was very polite, non-accusatory. She told me that there were only 3 people in the office to process the applications, both initials and renewals. What holds them up is the amount of time it takes the local LEOs to return the "Local Background Check" to them. Now keep in mind, if there is anything that requires a "closer look", throws up a flag, etc..... well more time needed. That doesn't mean you did anything wrong, but might just be that someone has a a very close name, DOB, and has a "record". |
