Hi. Could anyone tell me what competitive shooting organizations we have in TN, and give me an idea of where they meet. One of my wife's co-workers moved from up North, and is looking to get back into it down here, and I'd like to find something nearby just to go watch. All I know is that he shot w/ a stock AR, and very little modification was allowed. I'm located just outside of Clarksville, and the closer the better.
Thanks, James EDIT: Thanks for the information everyone, and thanks for the invite PRICE. Maybe I'll get out to a few this year. |

Sounds like CMP/Service Rifle competition. Been a while since I looked into it, but I recall one of the Nashville area clubs, affiliated with the CMP, has a (I think) 300 yard range that they have access to on Corps of Engineers land. They had a membership cap, and weren't taking applications at the time. There are others, though.
The CMP has a listing of local clubs on their website. www.odcmp.com ETA: If you're looking for other types of competitions, there are clubs that have affiliations with other shooting sports. IDPA and USPSA (both pistol competitions) 3 gun Anything I missed? ETA2: There's also at least one club for Cowboy Action shooting. I think their range is somewhere east of Murfreesboro. |

There are several matches through out a given monthly quarter. (sometimes in the same month but not always) A good place to look for match listings be it Service Rifle, Across the Course, Palma, F-Class and High Power matches is http://forums.delphiforums.com/tnhighpower/ . They list matches a few months in advance and requirements. Most of the people are like minded as Arfcom too.
But as for general club locations: Gallatin, Cookville, Oak Ridge, Chattanooga, Columbia, Tullahoma, and Memphis all have ranges that offer at least a 100 yard reduced course. Several of them have 1k matches or 600 yd matches too. Po-Po |
