I went to the Goodman show today & it wasn't too bad, IMO. Kinda light on bulk ammo but had 3-4 dealers there with 500rd case sales. Wolf .223 FMJ was $149/500rds.

Saw an honest-to-god French 9mm semi. Can't recall the name but it was imported for 2-3 years back in the 1980s. Saw several REAL nice little .22 rifles for $150-200.

J&T was back in action again!

Was the French 9mm a MAB P15?

Not my auction, but I've shot one and it's pretty sweet.

Yes, I believe that is the one I saw. He was asking $700-750 for it. I saw no one even look at it besides me.

The Goodman show's are going to be very interesting from now on.  Goodman is making anyone who has a table and is selling guns to run the buyer through TICS.  So that means in order to have a table and sell guns you either have to have a FFL or go through a dealer there.  There was a guy there on Sunday that thought he was slick and got caught.  I'm not sure what Goodman is doing to him but hopefully he's outa there.  There is also a rumor out there about a certain dealer there that started all of this and is tring to take over the show.

That's right.  After the video that Bloomberg made, it spooked a lot of Promoters out there.  Also, a certain dealer that sets up in the front of Goodmans shows kinda fueled the fire

That really does suck.  Last Goodman show when I met you TNmike, I spoke a dealer on the opposite side back corner.  Him and his buddy had a Colt Compact 1911 and some other handguns and were doing the private thing.  I said that's cool and he brought up Bloomberg.  Had a quick chat and I moved on but at least tell me you can still walk in with a piece and do a private sale...?

To play the devils advocate for a minute and coming from a dealer at show's that has to go through NICS. Alot of dealers get upset at shows that they pay hundreds of dollars for tables at various shows and are barely breaking even or loosing money at many shows as of late while average joe can pay 5-10 bucks to get in with 6-8 pistols on his belt and 2 long guns on each shoulder and  clear a thousand dollars or better. It's the people taking advantage of the "gun show loophole" not the guy bringing "A" gun to get rid of or trade off that are pissing off the vendors causing many of them to pull out of shows or push for rules such as this.

I think your opinion is going to be a little unpopular around here.

You with Uselton's?

nope, and above post isn't necessarily my opinion, it's just what I have been told by many dealers at gun shows we have attended lately. Fortunately we haven't taken the hit some of the other dealers have yet. (knocking on wood) My personal opinion is that of a capitalist if you can't compete get a new plan. give the people a reason to come to you.

That sounds more like it- reasons why we love to see folks like JTDistributing, etc.

If only we could get folks like Bravo Company down to our shows. Yeah...

Y'all taking notes?

+1

Good CS won't be found from a "walk around dealer".

I worked gunshows for years for a local dealer & saw both sides of the issues regarding "private dealers" & FFL dealers. While I understand both sides of the issue of allowing sales by non-FFL holders to compete with FFL holders, I tend to throw the enforcement back into the lap of whom it belongs: BATFE.

I've seen the same private sellers have the same tables loaded with guns for almost 20 years now. If that's not "engaging in the bidness" & a BATFE violation, then I don't know what is.

The dealers who live in Fantasy Land? The ones who want $800 for a complete AR upper? The ones who want $1700 for a "Pre-Ban AK" (even though there isn't a ban anymore)? Some dude who needs $$$, for whatever reason (new build, paying bills, etc.) and undercutting their highway robbery prices is somehow a whining point? Puhlease.

As is often mentioned on ARFCOM, capitalism rules. If dealers are bitching (and not saying all of them are) it's because some of them would love to see the rules changed so no one could endanger their assinine asking prices.

I'm going to say this once: I'm NOT referring to the decent dealers out there. Just the gougers, especially the idiots who are too stubborn to realize that their stale wares are NOT worth what they're asking NO MATTER WHAT THEY PAID FOR IT. It's very similar to the housing market and people who just can't let go of the over-inflated, imaginary price figure they thought their house is worth. Not getting that windfall profit hurts you thought you should get. Tough shit.
