...surely it wont be beyond 90 days... You don't watch the news very often, do you? They're pretty much overwhelmed/backlogged from what I've heard. Don't expect it to go through in 90 days. Congrats on getting a permit though; the more armed people around here, the safer we all are.
eta: if it makes you feel any better, our former Democrat Speaker of the House was approved overnight.

I guess your right as far as being lucky to get it in 90 days. There were at least 8 other people getting theirs today while I was there (Cookeville DMV).
I was told whenever I took the Handgun Safety class, that if it gets close to 90 days and still nothing, that there is a number you can call in Nashville to check on the status of the permit. Ive heard from several people that they have called and found out the permit was sitting on their desk, and they received it a day or two later. |

I completed my application on 4/29/09, still nothing. I understand that they are backed up, but if I am not correct, they have to provide the permit within 90 days as required by law. not sure where you heard that....maybe pre-obama.... but not now... I think anything before 4 or 5 months is a number to be happy with |

Tennessee Code 39-17-1351
(l) The department shall issue a permit to an applicant not prohibited from obtaining a permit under this section no later than ninety (90) days after the date the department receives the application. A permit issued prior to the department's receipt of the Tennessee and federal bureaus of investigation's criminal history record checks based upon the applicant's fingerprints shall be subject to immediate revocation if either record check reveals that the applicant is not eligible for a permit pursuant to the provisions of this section. |

As I stated, that was prolly before Obama, I'm sure they would like to execute everything within 90 days, but with the recent increase for CCP's, its just not feasible for the state to accomplish. |

My wife turned hers in 4/28 and she got hers last week. that was less than 90 days! I think it depends a lot also on how long the people takes to turn in your finger prints and who does what. Now my class 3 that I sent off for in Februray .... still waiting |

What's sad is that if you got two or three ARFcom'ers to work there on a commission basis ($5 for each application processed), not only would the backlog be whittled down to nothing within a week, folks would be getting their permits in sub 30-days regularly. And the two or three we send in to work there would not even devote a full 40 hours per week to doing it, either.
Damn .gov workers! |
