hang in there , CYA, a digital pocket recorder might be the thing to carry with you at work . BTW : drop a anonymous dime to the DEA, as much as I hate the gestapo and there friends. That would seem to be the thing to do if there is evidence of theft / missing drugs. |

Here is the initial post I made on 2/12/09 in TEAM...I wanted to keep it low key..but I am stumped as to what steps to take next!
I turn to my brothers in arms... 
So, I am being forced out of my job in an assisted living heath care facility because I can't keep my mouth shut concerning the neglect of some of the residents among other things.
This place is a fucking shit hole!.. They continually are understaffed and can not provide the care that these people deserve and for the last week I have worked double shifts because I am the only nurse they have. ...The only fucking one! But here is the kicker!..I caught my supervisor stealing narcotics this past Friday which belong to the patients and now I am being pretty much told that "I need to look for another job before I lose my license as a nurse!" I have been very vocal to the issues of the neglect,the thefts,the overall mismanagement of the place since the day I caught her because I am so fucking fed up with what has been going on in this place and how the people are forced to live under these conditions. Continually there are issues I have taken to my supervisor concerning the care of these people and basically it is swept under the rug and not addressed like it should be... some of the issues include the manager of the facility making statements that budget overrides things such as food,medical care,staffing,among others such as frequent theft of money,jewelry,clothes and people being left lying in piss and shit all night because there are not enough staff to provide the care required..Residents having falls because they are trying to get to the restroom because there is no one to take them, fucking more roaches than you can imagine,fucking bugs and gnats laying eggs in the juice dispenser,(reported)rotting food being served... I fucking refuse to be silent!! But the theft of the narcotics (pain meds) by my supervisor was the last straw for me over the last week! This woman has already been written up for failing a drug screen for opiates without a script while blaming missing medication on nurses who have been smart enough to fucking bail while they still can!!! It was Not just the theft..but the conspiracy to cover it up by the executive director!! And now they are fucking with me because I refuse to "play along" and keep my mouth shut! So she has called me on her personal cell phone and asked me pretty much to keep it quiet and that she has told the Manager of the place that she has handled it and it is fixed..Then she also has "destroyed" a fucking shit ton of Narcotics while there is no witness to the damn fact...Anyone in Health Care knows that wasting narcotics is a fucking NO GO without another Rn or the Pharmacist! They let one nurse work for 2 weeks knowing she had failed a fucking drug screen for who knows what....But she (the nurse) told me she was told she failed...but they let her keep working and having access to all the Narcotics she could ever want!! So, I don't know what to do...I can not go at this alone and I can't lose my nursing license...Shit,This is how I feed my family...and I know they will try to stick some sort of bullshit on me!! I absolutely love my patients...they are folks like me and you but they are old and can't care for themselves anymore.. Some of them are the most interesting people...Some of them are Vietnam vet's,WWII Vet's and medal winners...One woman was an Army Nurse who was at Pearl Harbor who won the Bronze Star for directly saving the lives of 4 GI's who were blown to shit,all while she was dodging the Japanese bombs..I have seen and read her citation and would you fucking believe someone stole her fucking Star right out of her room??? One couple is a retired Army LT and his wife is a Retired Army Nurse who patched his ass up after he was wounded at Iwo Jima ...they have been together ever since she nursed him back to health.. Then there is a guy who has become my true friend, who is a Vietnam vet,shot out of a Huey 3 times within 18 months while sustaining shrapnel and gunshot wounds to his spine, leaving him in a wheel chair unable to care for himself.. And there are so many more average and ordinary people.... but who all have some sort of story.. The problem is not with "MOST" of the worker level employees...but with management! Anyone who will tell the chef that " these people get one slice of bacon and 1/2 scoop of eggs (powdered even) to keep her fucking budget under control.... has NO FUCKING BUSINESS taking care of people! I am fucking sick...physically and emotionally because of this shit!...I am currently training 2 nurses...One had a DUI and a drug charge but they hired her anyway and the other is brand damn new out of school... I am so afraid they can't provide these people the care they need and deserve! Don't get me wrong...I am not trying to play hero any way shape of form...and I don't care if you get high on your own time..I actually think drugs should be legalized at the very most decriminalized...but she was taking medication from people who needed it to function normally and it gave them a better quality of life..I mean damn...they are on their way out...why in the hell would you take medicine that makes someone in their condition feel a little better and relieve their pain momentarily.. To me it was the same as her or anyone else taking food away from a starving child... 
So if anyone can offer any help in any way..please feel free to IM me.. I have emailed and called just about every agency you can imagine and NO ONE is interested at this point..These old folks need some serious help and it is a shame what these people who have been given the task of being their overseers are doing to them and getting away with it is appalling and very sad... It is ABUSE of the elderly and nothing less!...I can only imagine my mother under their care.. It makes me grieve! Stay tuned to the updates.. |

I got a call about 1pm and it was the bitch who stole the narcs...I was told that I could take the weekend off and then on Monday they wanted to have a meeting with me concerning my schedule... I have seen countless people get the "meeting" .......then they were fone! Looks like the bitch who is the meds thief is coming in this weekend to work my shift... I KNOW she will be looking for ANYTHING to try to stick on me for the meeting on Monday! So, I don't know if I even have time to get the ball rolling before they shit can me... Those poor fucking old people... I don't even care if I get fired or not anymore.. Nothing!!...They do not have anything on me... I DO have evidence and that is a Copy of Narcotics count sheet that was of the Meds that was stolen...Which she just mere minutes ago admitted to me she had destroyed the original to cover her ass.. She begged me not to bring it up and that she had to have a job...And I have her on my voice mail begging me not to follow through with this... Well, So do I damn-it!!! I have a witness who saw me put the original sheet under the office door of the Supervisor (Med thief) and she signed the copy of the sheet with a time and date stamp.. I am being forced out of my job because I am a whistle blower...I emailed the Home office and told them of the debauchery of what is going on in this place and they had a conference call on Friday,with the Manager and the director of nursing (the Narc Thief), concerning all the allegations (facts) I made against the facility.. I have been forced to work double shifts,under staffed,in dangerous conditions NOT only for myself but for the poor people there, under the threats of discharge!!... The ONLY reason I did it was because these poor people had to have Someone take care of them that gave a shit!!!...That IS The Only Reason!! So, NOW....they are looking for shit to pin on me and I basically told her that I was beyond the fear of losing my license anymore and that IF they wanted to play dirty because I am a whistle blower then I would have more folks with windbreakers and "ABC's" running through that place than they could count... I am summarily being forced to fear for my livelihood and the financial support of my children and family through threats of intimidation,loss of my professional license,and other retribution, IF I do not keep quiet,QUIT my job, and move along (nothing to see here)! I was told that it was because they WERE NOT going to pay for unemployment benefits... I am physically sick over this and my blood pressure is through the roof, I've not slept in a week and I am sick to my stomach with chest pains.. I am stuck because it is the weekend and NO One is open on Monday because of President's Day... I am considering NOT going to the meeting on Monday because I am physically ill because of this place...NO Joke! When I asked her why I was going to be fired on Monday..she told me it was because I opened my mouth about her and I know it's about the medications being stolen.. Because I made her look bad!..... Hell, That's because she IS bad... But what gets me is that I have had NOTHING but praise and words of thanks since the first day I started working there.. They moved me from 2nd shift to first shift because they "Needed a Strong nurse on day shift"... I am at a loss of words... Thanks for listening! |

The patient has had to do without pain medication, while being in pain from past surgeries to her hip. I have told family members to find another place for their loved ones to live and it has gotten back to the nursing supervisor and executive manager. Residents, family members as well as the staff and management of this facility praise me for the care I have given while working as an employee. Well, I didn't go to the meeting today (so I don't know if I am fired or not) but I did email corporate and I know they did conference call the two assholes about my situation as I still have an insider there who is keeping me updated. Instead of going to this meeting I wrote a letter explaining why I could not attend and asking the reason I have been chosen for termination after being considered what "holds the place together".. I officially divulged the evidence I have of the stolen narcotics and let them know,I know, I have been targeted for termination for blowing the whistle on my supervisor for being a narcotics thief among my constant concerns of neglect and possible abuse of the elderly.. I was contacted by the local media and I have an on camera interview scheduled for later this week.. Also, I have contacted a couple of the other nurses who have worked there over the last few months and who either quit on their own accord or were basically fucked over until they either left or were fired..Who can attest to the neglect and possible abuse at this place. One of them has agreed to go on camera too..I will get more! Once the interview is edited I will get a copy and post it for you guys to critique! I have to figure out how to get word to some of the residents who live there as the media wants to speak to them as well...which would certainly corroborate my stories of what a shit hole the place is... I was also contacted by a nationally known legal firm who specializes in Nursing Home abuse and neglect cases which really,really seemed to be on the ball about how they do things and handle cases..Some of her cases have been highlighted by "20-20" and "48 hours investigates"...It was also made known she has NEVER taken a case she didn't win and she was adamant about taking this case. I am still looking and have not made a decision as to who I will chose to represent this case for these people and myself. Once I talk again with a couple attorneys I am going to contact the DEA and the County Narcotics Diversion Unit (probably Thursday pending the TV interview) I don't really expect anything for myself...but I do want to do everything I can to help these people and if some of them can get rich ( or that second slice of bacon and a couple of whole eggs), they deserve it for the things they have been forced to endure... Things are starting to gain some speed and I would imagine they will reach warp speed pretty soon! KEEP PRAYING FOR ME! |

I called today to see if I was on the schedule for tomorrow AM and I was given this as an answer to my dismissal... "Given your attitude..It is best that we all just part ways" Ive also talked to another nurse who has agreed to go on record to corroborate everything I have said in regard to the neglect of the elderly and their business practices concerning threats of intimidation against nurses who were forced to resign or have false charges against their ability to maintain their livelihood and Nursing license. Quoted: If the SHTF and you loose your job, I'll find a place for you to work at my company. People like you (ones who actually take action) are unfortunately a rare occurrence any more... I can start next week!..I really appreciate the offer!..I hope you are serious because I may really have contact you!..I do have other marketable skills other than health care..But we can talk about that later.. I am sure that given the circumstances..I will be blacklisted in this area for a LOOOONG time as far as getting a job. I have already started going through my safe to decide which ones are going to go first...keep an eye on the EE there may be some really good deal soon! |

A couple who I grew close to sold their 68 acre farm and two houses that had been in the family for over 100 years because they were lied to and told everything would be taken care of.. The have had their pain medication stolen and replaced with Tylenol when they had to leave their room for Dr's visits or to the dinning room..The man of this couple broke down in tears just a few days before I worked my last day because he sold his grand children's legacy and gave up everything to come there. I didn't know what to say to him and it almost made me cry myself...He told me he was afraid he would be sleeping and someone would just come into his room and take whatever they wanted.. IT is a fucking shame and there is NOTHING I can do to make it any better...I don't know what to do! More updates when/IF they happen...

They are very active in investigating Tenncare and prescription fraud in Smyrna where I work. Had several cases in court Tuesday while I was working. |

Jesus Christ and if we get the same healthcare system like they have in the UK (which the scialist a-holes probably will eventually), the elderly will become even more neglected as they have already "given back" all they can.

Someone already mentioned contacting him in the Team thread.. I may give it a shot..He does have a knack for covering stories which are otherwise swept under the rug.. I just hate the fact he is a flaming liberal...but I guess I can reach across the isle and seek his liberal voice.. 
I used to work for the company you mentioned in your IM's and they are some of the better facilities in the area.. I wish I still had that job..You never understand that the grass on the other side is just grass..just like it was where you were at to begin with!
