| Can I CCW there with my NC permit? Anything I should know? |
|
Yes, lots of things you should know.
CCW isn't "allowed" where alcohol is sold for on-premises consumption. Bars, TGI Friday's, Chili's, etc. are all a no-no (technically) for CCW. Virtually all city offices & buildings are also off limits. ALL buildings MUST be "posted" with a minimal sized sign announcing such prohibition & it should be be all entry ways. Most malls are CCW friendly, at least I've never seen one posted. Lots of big city po-po are NOT gun friendly! Behave one's self & you should never have any interaction with them, IMO.
N.C. honors TN permits, it should be in reverse as well. Go here for info: http://www.tennesseefirearms.com/reciprocity/reciprocity.asp If you MUST travel in or visit Memphis, be SURE to carry 2-3 extra mags. Have a safe trip! |

If you MUST travel in or visit Memphis, be SURE to carry 2-3 extra mags. You know, not too long ago I would say that this statement is a little paranoid. However, a friend of my wife's (who is originally from Memphis), was attacked by three armed thugs in Memphis (from the 'other' side of the tracks), and when he finally escaped the beating by hitting one of them over the head with a beer bottle he found while trying to crawl away, they gave chase in their car and shot into his truck as he frantically called 911 via his cell phone. This was only a few months ago. He has a carry permit but just happened to leave his piece in another vehicle that day. So, I agree 100% with your statement. |

Several malls are "posted", but I have yet to see one posted in anything resembling what the state law outlines for posting. If you happen to enter through an entrance that has the 'mall rules' posted within 100 feet or so of the door, and read down the list to rule number twenty something, you'll probably see something about guns not being allowed, but the wording will be completely different from the wording given in the state carry law (at least that has been my experience). |
