Anyone heard from Johnathon (sp?) lately? I haven't seen him post in a while. I know he had some kidney stones a while back but he's posted since then.................

Hi Bob.  I'm still around.  I just turned in my 60 day notice to my apartment complex on the 3rd and am in the process of looking for another apartment.  I have some very promising leads and should be looking at one place next week.  I'm usually lurking this forum every day.

I talked to one apartment complex this morning.  They have a place they can show me on 7/8/2008 though it won't be available for rent for another 2 weeks.  I'm gonna look around and just make sure I can get through all the doorways and can reach what I need to reach.  I'm still waiting to hear back from the other complex.  As it turns out, both complexes are down the street from one another.

Basically, the reason I'm moving is because of the rent.  It started out at $735 per month back in September 2006 then moved down to $711 per month when I renewed last year and when I went in to renew this month for another year, they were going to raise my rent by $9.  The places I'm looking at are around 590-635 per month for a 12 month lease.

I just got back from the apartment showing.  I'm very disappointed.  I feel like the lady lied to me when she told me she had a handicapped accessible unit to show me.  Just off the top of YOUR head, what does handicapped accessible apartment mean to you?

That would mean the Hooters girls would be short enough to reach, IMO..........

Seriously, at the very least it should have ramps at the doors instead of steps.

Have you called UT & checked with their off campus housing folks, see whom they can suggest?

Good luck!

midgets for the win! ha ha ha! I hadn't thought of calling UT, I'll do that.  I now have an Apartment Guide and am working my way towards downtown from the Farragut area.  I'm trying to stay in West Knoxville as that's closest to where I work.

Edit, I've found two places who claim handicapped accessibility. One apartment will be available for viewing on August 4th and the other on the 11th.
