Hey sir!

Your Inbox is full, so I cant reply to your last message that way, so here it is:

Each time I fire the gun I can only get 3 or 4 rounds out of the 10 round magazine and then on the next shot the bottom of the magazine flies off, the spring, follower, and all remaining rounds are ejected all over the place.

I've tried adjusting the gas valve thingy... ( i dont know the proper nomenclature ) and I turned it all the way clockwise and when I fired the rifle there wasnt enough gas to expel the shell casing and strip another round.   So I knew that was too far and then would dial slowly back and fire a round until it would function semi-auto.

One the weapon would function semi-auto, I would load up a full 10 rounds and then fire the weapon and around the 5th shot, the magazine would explode again.

I'm going to try dialing in smaller increments.   Maybe I'm adjusting it in too large steps.

Other than the magazine blowing apart, I love the gun!   It has light recoil just like you said and it's not heavy like I thought it would be.  I'm in no way disappointed with the gun, just frustrated with the magazine issue.

There seems to be a lot of gas blowing back into my face, too, when shooting.  I'm sure that's somehow related, but I'm very, very ignorant of this weapon and my Google-fu is sucking.

For any and all innocent bystanders just joining us, I purchased a Hakim from this fine fellow and love the gun, but am having trouble regulating the gas, apparently, and it's causing some kind of blowout with the magazine.

Not my thread but it sounds like when you have the gas pressure set about where it should be, the recoil is causing enough of a jolt to knock the mag apart.

Sounds like the mag is worn and won't hold together right. All kidding aside, try using duct tape to hold the mag together. See if it functions fine that way. If it does, you need to replace the mag obviously.

As far as gas blowback in your face, some guns do that. Unfortunetly that might just be something you have to deal with.

It could also be that the gun has some parts that are dirty and causing rerouting of the expended round gases. Try a extremely anal-retentive detail cleaning of the gun and see if that helps.

Can't help ya on the mag problem, but the gas in the face is normal.

A friend of mine had a Hakim years ago, and we used to joke that you could blow dry your hair shooting it. Hell, one time it blew a cap off of his head.

The Hakim is an interesting gun, with an interesting action.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I'm going to try the other magazine that came with it and see if that was the case.

I know I should've tried the other magazine to begin with, but I kept getting side-tracked by hunting the pieces of the original magazine and then reassembling it.
