Can you guys point me to a good class 3 dealer in Memphis? Any problem getting a CLEO signature here? Any city/county/state suppressor laws I should know about?

CLEO approval is required by Tennessee law. Can't help you on dealers, though.

As in he is obligated to sign if there no compelling reason not to?

Thanks all!

Hey, I can't say for sure in Memphis, but I'm working with Frank Maschhoff with Elite Tactical Systems from Franklin, TN.   I bought the suppressor for my P22 from him.  The ATF just got my paperwork this week (I know because I saw the check went through this week lol).  As far as the CLEO, that part sucks (expect it to take about an hour and a half or so).

If you want the suppressor, you have to fill out the transfer application, wait for the serial number, once you get the serial number, you put that on the transfer application, along with 2 passport photos (one for each copy of the application).  Then you have to go to 201 Poplar, pay for your own background check at the jail location ($18 cash), then go to the 10th floor in the main building, talk to the lady at the window in the county office, and tell her need a signature on your paperwork.  That will take about 15-20mins.  Then you mail the paperwork to the BATFE.  Then wait.  And wait.  And wait some more.  Then you can arrange to pick up the item.

The only reason I remember all of this is because I just did it about 2 weeks ago lol.  Hope this helps.  Here's the website for ETS (contact info is at the bottom of the page):

IBG,

Thanks for the good words, brother.  I truly appreciate it.

Soybomb,

I'll be back at the Memphis Gun Show next weekend.  If you get a chance to stop by, I'll be quite happy to explain the process to you.

No, with a trust, CLEO signature isn't required.  What SayUncle means is that the CLEO is required to sign off on NFA paperwork.
