never been to your great state, but I have an upcoming flight that will leave me there for 5 hours and 52 minutes. is it possible to see graceland and still make my connection? is graceland worthwhile? |
Well, first of all, 'Tennessee' has two n's and two s's. ![]() Seriously, I take it that you'll have a layover in Memphis? Graceland is not far from the airport, both being in the south part of town. (Google maps says 3.3 miles, two main roads). You could do it. Need to find out how long the tour is. ...BUT DON"T COME DURING ELVIS DEATH WEEK! That whole section of town turns into a madhouse! And this will be the 30th anniversary... .HKO |
don't look at me, hoser. ![]() honestly, patchy, if you can get the cab in time you should be able to make it there and back within a few hours. you may want to take more time than that there, but at least you can say you've been. which is more than i can say. ![]() oh yeah, did we mention it ain't in a great part of town? oh yeah, don't forget to get some BBQ while you're in town! |

My daughter lives in Membabwe and goes to school at U. of M. We went to Graceland one Saturday, just for the heck of it. I never was an Elvis fan, but I gotta say we had a great time. Despite the fact it's in a bad part of town, security was right there, I wasn't frisked while carrying, and the tour is at your own pace, so you can go as fast or slow as you desire. It's kind of like going back in time to the '70's; the place is like it was when E was still around, the guy was pretty damn cool in his own way. Go for it. 40MIKE |
