I was informed that multiple veterans attending the University of Utah, myself included, are interested in obtaining their Utah CCW permit in order to carry concealed on campus, as that is the only method allowed. I was asked to put the word out and see if anyone would be willing to help out. The organizer that I talked to said he wanted to find an instructor "for lower cost or free". I feel that donations would be a better option than free, though. I know my last class (different state) cost $80. Not sure what the average cost runs here in Utah, but not many students are going to be able to justify that price on their limited incomes while attending the U.
If you are a certified firearms instructor and would be able to provide the required training for the Utah CCW permit for a group of veterans, please reply here or send me a private message. Once I find a willing instructor and work out a date range, I can get an estimate of how many people can commit to the class. Location would most likely be close to the University of Utah. Thanks |

I don't know any CCW instructors. But, as a U of U graduate, I think it's imperative to help as many students as possible get their CCW so they can carry on campus. The U of U fought it for years, and got slapped down at every turn. I always carry when I go to the U.

Quoted: I know of at least one CFP instructor in the HTF. Hopefully he chimes in. Not sure what he charges but I've known him for several years and he's a great guy. (And if he's not sure sure I'm referring to him, he lives down the road from me ![]() eta - sorry for the delay, my folks are in town. |

Quoted: Thanks guys, I totally agree. That's one of the reasons why I decided to track down an instructor. Everyone that is competent and qualified should carry. Too many acts of violence and school shootings these days. Get a large enough group and I'll work with you. |
