I'm attending a church synod meeting on June 6, 7 and 8. My time will probably be taken up with business but what should I see (time permitting)? I'd love to have more time but that's all I can squeeze in.
Also, what's the weather like there? Day and night temps? |
Not from Casper, but I can pretty much describe the weather. I would prepare for vast temperature swings. This time of year, day time temps should be pleasant. Night time temps can be a bit chilly. So I would make sure to have a coat for night time. Now those dates are a week away...it could be snowing a week from now
A thing to remember about living and traveling in Wyoming is that you should always prepare for sudden weather changes. But looking at the weather for Cheyenne around that time frame, it should be a nice time. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 40s. |

You might want to check out Fort Caspar if you are interested in the touristy type stuff. http://www.casperwy.gov/ParksRecreationandEntertainment/ConcertsCulturalPastimes/FortCasparMuseum/tabid/188/Default.aspx |

The Oregon Trail goes right through downtown Casper. There are trail sites east and west of town. A drive up Casper Mountain for the view will be worthwhile, especially if you take a camera. Finally, if you can take a fishing pole, do it. The North Platte river is home to great trout fishing.

| There are lots of museums in town. You will miss the machine gun and canon shoot by a few days. Casper is nice because it is central in the state so pretty easy to do some nice day trips to areas around casper. Mountains, lakes, and vast prairie. As said above fort caspar, trails, museums, and anything outdoors is available. The river fishing has been spotty when we have been, the river level is very high right now. |
