| Want to get a can for a rifle. Where is the best place to go in the Ogden area to pick one up? |
|
Impact will be your closest option but that doens't mean it's the best. I bought a can from Impact after I graduated from college. The process with them was bad IMO. There was one guy that could do the transfers. Since I live in SLC I would call the set-up meetings with him and he'd be late or not show. I also tried to buy my HK tactical from Impact since they had the best advertised price online; however, they didn't have the gun transfered to their box store ofr me. Their online store is separate from their box store so I made the request to have the gun transfered over. The day I was to buy the gun I made a quick call in to confirm the gun was there for me in my name and I was told they didn't have the gun. They lost out on an easy sale. I second Medicmandan. Get Some or FBMG for NFA items. |

A suppressor is too big a hassle and too great an expense to just buy what is on the shelf of the local gun store. I would at least try and get acquainted with several varieties then choose from among them. It is only an extra two or three weeks to wait to have one transfered in from out of state and you can have it shipped to any class 3 dealer you wish (I use Vector). The only place in Utah that sales my personal preference, Surefire, is Impact; and I wouldn't buy from them if they sold it at cost. |

I agree, Impact sucks. I bought my first AR from the odgen store, they acted like they were doing me a huge favor... I like Getsome alot, but they do get busy and it's hard to find the end of the line... FBMG is good, I have had some people get rather short with me, but they are working hard on getting the new store setup so I don't take it personal. I did my CCW class over at Getsome, I forget her name but she was awsome, I want to sign my wife up for her woman only shooting class. |
I've never had a Form 3 take less than 2 months. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've transferred two cans through Impact and had no problems. One I bought and transferred through them, and the other I bought directly from them (they had it in stock). Never had any issues. (Yes - my profile says I'm in MO. I'm a Utah resident that works everywhere except home). |

Impact sucks. Don't give them your business. They are dishonest and at least Alan should be in jail IMO. Rangemasters can do transfers. I have a bunch of cans if you want to hear some before you buy. As far as value vs performance, I believe AAC to be at the top of the pack for everything except for .22LR cans. I agree that you should do your research and then choose carefully. Rangemasters in Springville carries Surefire suppressors at a better price than Impact. |
I just had mine transfered from Major Malfunction (Oklahoma) to Impact. It got there sometime last week, and I ordered it around 3 weeks ago. Much quicker than I anticipated. I'm hoping my Form 4 goes just as fast! ![]() If you've got time to shop around, I'd take anyone who will let you try/hear their suppressors up on their offer. If you've got a little more time to wait on Form 3's, I'd HIGHLY recommend The Major. The guy's customer service was amazing. I called him from Africa (Deployed, Long story) and he answers while driving down the interstate. Long story short, he takes the next exit, pulls over, and spends 45 minutes on the phone with me answering questions. Right now theres a brand-spankin' new stainless YHM 7.62 QD Phantom sitting at Impact with my name on it. And I paid less than $610.00!!!! |
| Kind of funny that everyone is hating on impact guns. I agree that Alan from up there was a douche, but he no longer works there. Their latest problem, Ashley was also recently expunged. If you just talk to the right people there they are really helpful, I would recommend Dee, or Craig. I also just had a buddy who put in paper work for a suppressor from Get Some two weeks after I put mine paper work in at Impact. Well mine paper work came through about a month ago and he is still waiting on his. Yet every time he has put paper work in through Impact it has come through faster than my own. |
| Impact is horrible. do yourself a favor and stay away from them. alan is nothing short of a worthless lump. I agree that Dee and craig both know thier shit, but I have had so many bad experiences from that place, that I will NEVER spend another dollar with thier company. I think thier business practices are shady, owners are money grubbers and couldnt give a shit about shooters, customer service is horrible, prices generally suck, and just an overall bad experience all the way around. they should change the name from impact to "bohica" |

I'm not going to defend Impact, but after calling some of the "Nicer" shops and having people get short with me over the phone while asking simple NFA questions, I'm hardly motivated to drive an extra hour to have them get short with me in person. I was going to get into what GLD's bad experiences were, but its off topic. So far, they've treated me better then anywhere else. I'll give the other shops a second chance when I'm in the market again next month. |
