| I can legally carry my Glock at Lake Powell with a Utah permit, right. |

Yes you are fine. Lake Powell is National Recreation Area, not a National Park. I go down there almost annually for the Chuckar hunt. Be prepared to have the Rangers called on you. It's happened to me before. As long as you're not discharging near a house boat (which is considered a dwelling when beached) you're fine. Know the rules and you'll be fine. When the Rangers showed up on me it was damn funny because we had a group of 8 people. Four had a CCW permit, 2 had secret clearance, 1 with top secret clearance. We had 12 shotguns and 6 pistols that they held onto while they questioned us. The Rangers searched for anything they could give us a ticket for and failed. They checked life jackets, throwables, fire extinguishers, boat registrations, hunting permits, etc. They had never seen a lifetime permit either and questioned it. They were damn pissed when they came up with nothing. The head guy even tried to imply we were chumming the water with the cans of corn we had out for dinner.

Weapons: The following areas are closed to all shooting, hunting, and the possession of loaded weapons for reasons of public safety: Antelope Island All designated Developed Areas. Within ¼ mile of Dangling Rope Marina, including all structures, docks, breakwaters, and other man-made structures. All lands west of Antelope Canyon within Glen Canyon NRA that lie south of Lake Powell or the Colorado River. The area 1/2 mile on either side of Highway 95 at Hite and Highway 276 as they pass through Glen Canyon NRA. Within 1/4 mile of the Lees Ferry Public Launch Ramp courtesy dock. Within 1/4 mile of all existing developed shoreline campgrounds/sites and trailheads. Within the Lees Ferry Corridor the use of rifles is prohibited with the exception of licensed permitted hunting of big horn sheep. Within 1/4 mile of any structure. A "structure" is defined as, but not limited to: any building, shed, outhouse, pumpout, boat dock, breakwater, permanent harbor fixture, camper, motorhome, trailer, tent, or vehicle. -- Rainbow Bridge NM Determination The use of firearms for hunting has been limited since 1986 because the activity conflicts with other recreational activities and the large visitation that frequently occurs in specific areas. Closing these areas to the discharge of firearms, even during hunting seasons, does not affect a person's ability to otherwise conduct successful hunting activities elsewhere in the recreational area. The Rainbow Bridge NM GMP establishes the use or possession of weapons as inappropriate within the Monument boundaries. Source: www.nps.gov/glca/parkmgmt/upload/Compendium%202008.pdf |

If you have a Utah permit, you're OK in Page. Just be aware of the different laws in Arizona. For example, you cannot carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol, in Arizona. (Utah, it doesn't matter). I don't think there's a problem with Wahweap marina either. by the way, I drove through Page a couple of weeks ago, and the lake looks great. Fillin up! |
I saw a story on the news week before last that said Lake Powell was rising about a foot a day. When you think about the size of that lake, that is a shit load of water.... |
National Parks and National Monuments have that rule, but Lake Powell is a Nat'l Recreation Area. |
