Got a letter from him today about the AWB Renewal Feinstein is working on.

Dear medicmandan:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2005, S. 620.  I appreciate from hearing from you and apologize for the delay in my response.

As you know, Senator Feinstein of California introduced the Assault weapons Ban Reauthoriztion Act of 2005, S. 620 on March 14, 2005.  This bill seeks to reinstate the ban on certain semiautomatic assault weapons which expired on September 13, 2004.  S. 620 has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee where it awaits further consideration.

I voted against the ban in 1994 and anticipate voting against the current legislation should it reach the full Senate for consideration.

Thank you for writing.

Robert F. Bennett
United States Senator

It lacks the usual tone that he will always support my 2nd Amendment rights.

Bennet is usually ok, but it's Hatch we really have to worry about.

I have never heard back from Bennett after writing many emails/letters and calling his office. Not so much as a form letter.

Hatch's office has responded every time with at least a form letter. During the last AWB debate I received a return phone call from a staffer explaining his position. Now I'm not saying I trust him, he is afterall a politician, I'm just saying his office responds. We'll see how things go....I just sent off a 2 page nasty-gram calling him on the carpet over the compromise in the Senate as well as illegal immigration, in state tuition for illegals, border security etc.

Hell, even McCain the asshat responded to the letters I've sent him. I just sent another email off to him berating him on his run to the center positioning himself for '08. I let him know that this registered Republican (soon to be Independent again) would do everything in my power to make sure that the back stabbing piece of shit doesn't get the nomination. I think I even put something in there about voting for the Hildabeast over him...

It is my opinion that this State/Country needs a viable third party to keep the Dims/Pukes in line.

I get the opposite.  I always get a letter from Bennett, never from Hatch.

I couldn't agree more.  The fact that our state leans so far to one side means people like Hatch and Bennett can get away with crap that they wouldn't try if the state were closer to 50/50.

Have you looked at the Libertarian party?  I certainly don't fall 100% in line with many of the more vocal Libertarians, but the core beliefs and goals of the party resonate well with me.
