I am going to be in Portland the 10th and 11th of this month and wondered if there were any FAL homebuilders that might be able to give me a hand.  I have a Imbel kit I built on a Century receiver.  I don't think that I got the barrel timed right.  Bitch has a habit of not going all the way into battery when chambering a round.  I have the barrel vise and receiver wrench, I just need some expert help.

You might have better luck checking with the Oregon group on FALfiles- the folks there are very friendly and helpful, and its a pretty active community.

That said, when you say it's not going into battery, makes me wonder if the head-spacing is off i.e. wrong-sized locking shoulder. I know when I built my FAL I used go/no-go gauges to determine the exact size locking shoulder needed before I ordered it. Just a thought though, and there are folks much more knowledgable than me on FALs.

It sounds like a locking shoulder/headspace issue. I would NOT attempt to load a round nor fire one until I had someone knowledgeable on FAL's check it. An out of battery discharge is catastrophic. FAL Files is where I would look for help. Good Luck!
