I said so the other day, you cannot trust what ever these a**holes say. Just got this from OFF
http://www.oregonfirearms.org/massive-gun-ban-introduced OK, so I really don't know how to make it hot. What do you expect from an old roofer? |
|
Their ability to lie is proof to me that they have no morals.... Here is the actual bill:
http://www.leg.state.or.us/13reg/measures/hb3200.dir/hb3200.intro.html Just read the summary. This one is bad! |
|
This is my favorite part:
Banned: “A shroud attached to the barrel, or that partially or completely encircles the barrel, allowing the bearer to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that encloses the barrel;” I guess we deserve to get our off-hand burned for using such an evil device! |
|
Quoted: I don't understand what they hope to accomplish with this? A distraction just to keep us riled up? If so, it's working. The problem is they don't understand the consequences of pissing us off... But what would it be a distraction FROM? The accusations of Obama's gay love sessions on the golf course? The horse meat or fish scandals? Nothing that matters. "Distracting" people with legislative bullshit isn't a good way to distract them from legislative bullshit, since everyone is looking at what's going on there... So, what IS the end game? Trying to FORCE the start of a civil war? |
|
Its a trap!
They put out the most exteme bill they can and get everyone mad. They know it has no chance of passing. They will wait a bit and bring out a compromise bill they had all along that only goes half as far. They know the stupid or weak people in the middle will look at the compromise bill, and say is not as bad as the exteme bill, lets go with it. Its a bait and swicth. We have seen the bait, give it time and the swicth bill will come. The best response is to draw a line and fight any bill that even hints of being anti-freedom |

I wrote about 20 emails to Representative this afternoon. In it I mentioned that I think that the sponsors of the bill have violated their oath to protect the constitution.
Is there any way the house republicans can charge Burdick and minions with treason for defying the constitution they swore to protect? Politicians do still need to take an oath to the constitution to be office don't they? Screw a compromise! We need to go on the offensive! |

This crap isn't going to go away on its own.
Let your representatives know what you think. Make your voice heard. The OFF auto mailer makes it pretty easy. Use it or don't, but don't sit on your ass and just HOPE this kind of crap legislation doesn't go through. Come on boys........ this is time to rattle the cages. http://automailer.oregonfirearms.org/index.php |

I was talking with a friend at work today who I knew was into hunting. He'd just recently bought a pair of 10/22's for his boys. I asked him about what he thought of the current legislation, and he admitted he really wasn't following it. I gave him the highlights of HB3200 and his eyes about exploded.
Communication is key... |
| I gotta be honest with you folks, I'm up here in Grad School and I plan to stay up here when I graduate. But I'm a Texan- born and raised. I've never had to be made to feel like a criminal for exercising my CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. This scares the hell out of me. What's more, I don't appreciate the possibility of having to leave my girlfriend and job in order to return to a place that isn't totally nuts. If this passes (which, I admit, my biased southern opinion of Oregonian politicians makes me think that it can) I'm out of here. This is a sad path we are going down as a country. And quite frankly, I'm not sure we haven't already passed the point of no return. I'm really glad to see this vibrant community of people not afraid to stand up for their rights. |

Response from Huffman:
Thank you for taking the time to email me regarding gun control legislation. I try to find the root causes of a problem or issue and then develop common sense policy that will deal with the root problem, not the symptom(s) of the problem. Additional gun control would largely hurt law abiding citizens. Our focus needs to be on issues like mental health, illegal access to guns, strengthening our families, and eliminating excessively violent material from kids and youth. Areas that I believe address the root issues. I have not and will not support legislation that further erodes our God given, and our Constitutionally given and guaranteed rights and freedoms. Sincerely, Rep. John Huffman House Dist. 59 |

Let the lines in the sand be drawn. This bill is scary, inspections of your home etc. Would like to hear what our sherrifs have to say about this. I'm sure they'll be the dicks searching your house if this gos into law. Do they look the other way now if you make a sawed off shotgun or whatever to protect yourself? No, they enforce the law. (haul you to jail) I don't buy any of this BS that they won't enforce unconstitutional laws. This place is starting to look like communist russia! |

RE: Hb 3200Saturday, February 23, 2013 10:38 PM
From: "Sen Johnson" <[email protected]>Add sender to ContactsTo: "'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx," Thank you for your email. I agree, and I will be opposing any additional firearms restrictions, including SB-346, SB-347 and, especially, HB-3200. I am also well aware of the attempt to pass SB-1594 (ban on CHL in schools – the bill you refer to) in the 2012 session. I believe a review of the record will show that Senator Verger and I were the two senate democrats who voted to help successfully defeat the bill on the senate floor. Best regards, Betsy Member, Democratic Gun Owners Caucus NFA License Holder (503) 543-4046 From: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, February 22, 2013 5:37 PM To: Sen Johnson Subject: Hb 3200 Dear Sen. Betsy Johnson, HB 3200 bans virtually all modern firearms. It even allows the police to search my home with no warrant! I am a law abiding and lawful CHL carrier. I will not be disarmed and I will not allow an unconstitutional search of myself, my family, or my hard earned property and home. Never have I seen a piece of legislation that was more a product of hatred and ignorance than HB 3200. This bill bans things that don't even exist. I am shocked and disappointed that something like this would even be considered in my state. It is very troubling that Oregon has legislators who are trying to ban things they don't even understand. I am also not comforted that Senate Democrats have claimed they will not move forward with a bill of this kind. Last session we were told that a ban on licensed carry on school property would not move forward and then Peter Courtney revived it in the last days of the session and tried to ram it through with no opportunity for public testimony! I strongly urge you to oppose HB 3200 and any bill that mindlessly attacks the rights of the people. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

I can assure you, if this passed, most, if not all, would not follow it! In fact most of my coworkers are raging pissed at the thought of this going into effect. And those aren't even the ones I would consider hardcore gun nuts either. To be honest, if this bill did pass I'm sure the 9th circuit would shoot down the blatant violation of 4th amendment rights in a heart beat! |

As others have as well, I have received several hundred emails regarding HB 3200 which was introduced last week. This type of legislation makes me very sad and disheartened. Our Constitution with the Amendments has stood for hundreds of years and to have individuals who have taken an oath to uphold the Constitution decide to do their best to rewrite it is despicable. I have attached to this email a list of The Fifteen with all their contact information. Take just a moment to send them an email or give them a call and express your concerns regarding their willingness to “infringe” upon your Second Amendment Rights. Many of you have already received the following but for those of you who have not, I have included my recent statement on Gun Rights. “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Please know that as far as I am concerned there is no wavering on the Second Amendment. In my opinion the Second Amendment gives us as US Citizens the right to protect ourselves, our families and our property. It states that we have the right to form a militia if this country were to be invaded and specifically gives us the right to bear arms to keep our own government in check if necessary. Limiting us, as Americans, access to guns in general or to specific guns and ammunition is a blatant affront to the Constitution of the United States and specifically – the Second Amendment. Now, is there work to be done – most certainly – but we need to focus on what needs to be done and what will make a difference. Our national and state mental health programs need to be examined closely and changes made where appropriate. We need to reexamine the reasons we declare different areas “gun free” zones. Does it make sense to announce that our schools and our theaters are “gun free” zones and then NOT expect those areas to be targeted? Recently I had an individual verbally reprimand me for using the statement “common sense” – but I believe that we need to apply common sense to these situations. If you are a criminal or suffering from mental health issues and you determine you want to hurt someone are you going to go to the local police station where you know there are people who protect themselves with firearms? I think not – Common Sense tells you to find an area where there are no guns allowed. I believe there is much work to be done in order to deter individuals from harming themselves and others with any weapons – guns being the main topic of discussion at this time. It horrifies me to think of what happened in Connecticut at the school and in theater in Colorado – but limiting law abiding American Citizens access to firearms is not the answer. Thank you so much for corresponding with me on these issues – I look forward to hearing from you again. I am here to assist you in any way possible and I appreciate you staying in touch. Please take just a moment and go to my new website www.salesquivel.us, contact - and sign up to stay in touch. It just takes a moment to fill out the request form and I can add you to my email list to keep you updated on gun control and other important issues you are specifically interested in. SmithC6, thanks for the email links. I mass emailed, and it looks like it works better if you use your own email program; I suspect OFF is being blocked.
And, of one of the responses I got, I thought this one from Sen. Whitsett made a good suggestion: "Thank you for your comments and thoughts regarding HB 3200. Senator Whitsett opposes any further restrictions on possession of firearms and actually opposes many of those already in place, both at the State and Federal levels. We encourage you to call the sponsors and co-sponsors of HB 3200. Rep. Greenlick - 503-986-1433 Rep. Bailey - 503-986-1442 Rep. Buckley - 503-986-1405 Rep. Dembro - 503-986-1445 Rep. Won't start dissecting politics here, but believe a good exit strategy is only prudent. |
