For some reason everybody thinks lead poisoning is a slow process. I can assure you that it's quite rapid...  This lil' hen-killer died of it tonight in fact.

Last time I whacked a coon, at 5am, I got a call later that afternoon: "Was that you shooting at 5am? You scared the hell out of me!" I've got cool neighbors though, they were more concerned that I killed the coon than being woken up. BTW a 6.8mm with 115gr v-maxes also drops a coon like a bag of hammers. I didn't save him tho at 5am I'm just not up to gutting/skinning the bastard, I'd rather goto bed. Dad was trying to convince me to BBQ it. Maybe next time. And definitely a hat. |

I have a badger sporran that drives dogs nuts. I think it still has some badger stink on it...looks cool, but a dog with his nose in my crotch gets old pretty fast. I don't mind if the dogs sniff the sporran and leave, but when they won't go away, it really is sort of funny... |

I'm pretty sure nohair's is a 556 Knights pushing out little Hornady V-Max's at prairie dog speed... Yes, a KAC SR15 and 55gn. V-Max @ Prairie dog speed is correct. Leaves a bit of a hole  , We were going to skin it but it was pretty scraggly in person.
So, how did the 300BLK do? did it expand or just poke a hole?

I got him out of the tree with a 22 and a flashlight... He sounded like a barrel of gravel falling down through the branches. Then when he started making for the field I got him with the blackout from about 50yds. That's not the first time I've put a .22 into a raccoon and had him get up and run away like all I did was hit him with a whiffle ball. Pretty much a through 'n through hole. The exit was bigger than the entrance, but not quite what your little vmax did.
Is your kid still wearing his pajama shirt? My dad always had a thing for trains. I remember him getting me out of bed as a little kid to go down and watch the trains switch in the yard across town. We actually got to ride on the locomotive a few times. He never got me up to retrieve a coyote though... Nice!

Eyegun, just 1, believe it or not.
Benjio, yes, he is in his robe.  . He had just gotten to sleep and I came in, woke him up and told him, he flew out of bed, threw pants, robe and a coat on and we were back out to it with the camera.
Mom was REALLY impressed I got him up.
