This may be the wrong place to post this, but I don't belong to any specific "Oregon" forums, so I'll just put it here. Is it me or have we had only about 5 days of nice weather this year (not including the 1 nice week get every February)? I've lived in Oregon nearly my whole life and have never experienced such out of the ordinary weather and/or bad and raining weather stretching this far into July. I may start to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I'm beginning to believe that there is some sort of weather manipulation going on. I was sitting outside the other day and noticee long contrails in the sky that started out looking normal, but then over the next 10 minutes looked like long strands of paint dripping down from it and then over the course of the next 20 minutes it stretched itself out into a huge haze overhead that cover the sky, blocking the sunlight. I've also read some news stories online along with news story video clips online on Youtube that seem to recognize something is going on. Something else out of the ordinary is that both my wife and I have been sick for the last two months with some strange respiratory ailment (yet to be diagnosed correctly by any doctor). No antibiotics or other medications seem to work and/or alleviate the symptoms. Anybody else with me on this one? |

I'm a product of the 60's when the formerly trusted FBI started their famous "dirty tricks" campaign. Ever since then I have just presumed that the government of our country (and damned every other one that can afford it) are up to many things that usually aren't in the best interest of the citizens. I don't mistrust our government any more or less than any other system..I figure they are all up to something.
What would be the point if government actually was open and honest with it's citizens. If a government actually was open and honest with it's then citizens would then be able to say either "do this" or "don't do that". And how will a government accumulate more power and money if the citizens actually DO have control? It seems pretty clear to me that what was once a beautiful idea for government in this country is now broken. But I think that both government and the special interests like it this way, because they have set the system up to work to their advantage...and of course they don't want "power to the people"...they want to keep it the way it is... Rant over. Now I'll go hitch my white pants up to my armpits, and go polish my white shoes, put my teeth back into the glass and continue grumbling about some else unintelligible. (for those of you who couldn't spot it fast enough, that last comment was sarcasm. |

It could just be natural variation. Just because you haven't seen a particular weather pattern happen over the course of even an 80 year life time doesn't mean that it is out of the ordinary over an actual significant time period.
But then again it could be that the gubment is using alien technology from the Roswell crash to mess with the Oregon weather. |
| don't forget that volcano in iceland with a lot of consonants in its name. It messed a lot of things up and typically when you have big volcano activity weather patterns throughout the world can get messed up. you can get your schizofoil hat on but there are many things in this world that are well beyond the comprehension, let alone control of man. |
Hmmmm......weird random weather....or government conspiracy?? I can see how you made that natural leap![]() ![]() I dunno what yer talking about crappy weather....this winter was very mild, little to no snow and during the winter months I remember us having quite a few sunny, or should I say, not rainy, days. Sure this summer has started out pretty mild, but weather does that. Or maybe Al Gore can give u a better explaination. |

Well I'm sold now I never believe what I see on the news, they interview the countries dumbest 10% to get their "opinions" on the matter. OK, so I'll bite, even if the Gov. is letting loose chemicles in the sky, even by their own new signed bill, it says they are trying to block harmful UV rays....to me blocking UV rays with chemicles and actually controlling/creating weather is a far far stretch. |

Well, the weather has been crap all year. In fact, I can't remember a shittier year for weather here in Oregon. And you are how old? A buddy who has lived here about 60 years has told me this is how the weather used to be, what we have had this year so far. |

Bingo! The weather "pattern" of the last year might comprise all of .0000000000000001% of weather since the Earth was formed. Thus, you can't look at such an incredibly short period of time, and make any sensible conclusions about whether in the grand scheme of things this year's weather is actually unusual or not. It might be unusual for the last 10 or 20 years. But since the Earth has been around for a little longer than 10 or 20 years, such recent comparisons are meaningless. But I have to say, the comment doesn't surprise me. Especially in the GD forum, it seems like I'm running into more and more people these days who are causing me to want to buy stock in tinfoil companies. It's as if there is an entire, large segment of our population that is quite literally incapable of critical thought. Superstition, fear, conspiracy theories and all manner of craziness have supplanted logic and reason. I would say it's funny. Except it's not. |

Back around 1961 a guy in Portland, IIRC a meteorologist, wrote a book called, "They Broke our Weather." If was about the changing weather patterns and heat waves hitting Portland. He attributed the cause to high altitude nuclear testing in the South Pacific. It's been decades since I've seen that book and Google does not turn it up.
No matter what the cause, it does seem to me like it started warming up in the 80's. Maybe it started in the 50's or 60's like the book said. I've really been enjoying the old time weather this year and hope the cold weather continues and it gets even colder and rainier in the coming years, just like it was 100 years ago. |
| When you drive your car on a cold day guess what? You're making "chem trails" too. You get enough chem trails which are also known as "clouds" and they can effect the weather, both by reflecting sun back into space, or acting as a blanket at night to keep the earth from cooling. This same phenomena also occurs on cloudy days. Humans obviously impact the environment. The giant holes in the ozone layer should be proof enough of that. |

and that's all I've got to say about that. |
