Looking for info on the Tri County Gun Club tactical match. I shoot practical rifle every month and would like to shoot some other competitions that are local.

I haven't been to one in a long time (years).

3rd Sunday of every month in the action pits.

I think is is usually fom 10-3.  Show up at 9.

Pistol, Rifle, Pistol caliber carbine.  There is an alternate course of fire for shooting your pistol twice.

Have to be LE or IPSC certified at TCGC to participate.

Gackman was pretty close (my edits are in red/bold).

3rd Sunday is the USPSA match.

Thanks!

I was thinking pistol, shotgun , PPC as I was typing... but I must have been tired... or Mrs GackMan was bothering me...  yeah, that must have been it.  :)

maybe some day a true 3-gun match in the pits on a regular basis.

I do think they allow an alternate COF if you don't have a PPC.  I know that used to be the case.

Figured it was a typo.

Past tense (red/bold edit above).  A rare occurrence these days and requests for such have been denied on several occasions.

Is it always required to have a PCC? Or do some matches have normal rifle cal

I don't think normal rifle calibers are allowed on that range unless by special dispensation.  That almost never happens, and none of the tactical/IDPA style matches I have attended had them.

You will need to carry in a "real world" holster, with a "real world" pistol.  Pistol has to be concealed (no shoulder holster) or LE can carry openly in duty holsters.  I don't know if civilians can open carry in a LE security type holster or not.

The tactical matches are well run, lots of fun, and more realistic training than IPSC matches.  Although any kind of competition is better than sitting on the couch watching TV, IDPA/tactical matches try to be more realistic training for the real world than IPSC matches with 30 round stages...

I believe that 30 cal M1 carbine is now allowed for tactical matches.

No, open carry is not allowed for non-LE. This is a concealed carry match.

Yes, .30 carbine is allowed.

No, a PCC is not required (occasionally matches have no PCC stages/elements), but you'll normally be at a serious disadvantage without one (you'll use your pistol or take a DNF - you will not use a rifle). No, as I posted above, the TCGC tactical match does NOT use a "normal rifle cal " -  it uses a pistol caliber carbine.

I will be at the tactical match this sunday.

I used to shoot the match when I lived here, and it was a good time.

I'm not sure if IPSC certification is required as it is a formalized match.  I think the MD will let you participate based on your experience and competency level.
