I'm going to shoot my first ipsc match this Sunday at TCGC using my stock XD9 with iron sight and 16rd. mag. In the limited class, can I load 16rd. in my mag or there's a limit to how many rounds I can load?

I'm sure somebody w/ experience will chime in here any minute.. According to the class I took on the 7th, you are NOT restricted by magazine capacity for IPSC matches.

Llimited is not "limited to ammo" in gun.

Limited-10 and Production are limited to 10+1

Dude, sorry to burst your bubble.  No match this Sunday at TCGC.  They are getting ready for Area 1.  See here: www.columbia-cascade.org/

You might want to go to the ABC Charity Match in Albany instead.  It will be a great place for your first time.  There's another thread in this forum about it.

For the regular USPSA match (not the charity match):

You can cram as many as you want into the magazine.

The magazine must be 140mm or less.

9mm in Limited will be scored as minor power factor.  Hits in the A zone are worth 5, B and C zones are worth 3, and D zone is worth one.

You'll be shooting against other competitors shooting in major power factor (A=5, B&C=4, D=2).

Your gun will score less points (if you miss the A zone), but will be easier to control and hold more ammo.  Major guns are a little harder to control, hold less ammo, but get a small points advantage.

A lot of XD shooters like the production division.  You would be on a more level and againts similar firearms in that division.  However, you would be limited to 10 rounds (a real problem if you don't own many magazines).

Your first time, it doesn't much matter anyway.  Be safe, and have fun.  Take your time to make the shots, and don't worry about your time.  You'll earn everyone's respect and make lots of friends if you are level-headed and safety conscious.
