I was reading an article in the new issue of American Rifleman about a number of states attempting to pass legislation that would track ammuniton. Bullets and cases would be coded and entered into a data base to be tracked. Some of the legislation goes as far as prohibiting possession of uncoded ammo after just a couple of years. This is scary. Arizona is one of the states listed. Hard to believe it could actually happen as it seems the economic impact would be big enough to stall it. What concernes me is that it doesn't ever seem to be an issue that is discussed. We listen and read long debates about welfare, healthcare, etc. yet our second amendment rights get ignored. |

Do the people who introduce this type of legislation have any idea how much ammo is consumed in the US in a year? What a logistic nightmare. Actually, I'm sure they do. Their aim is to make our guns unuseable. I haven't read that article yet. Did it say what provisions were being made for handloaders. |

I have been following this for a long time. And I am of the opinion that it is a way to control not only guns but the people who shoot. If you jump over to "Jerry the Geek's" blog site he has a lot to say about this. Jerry is a friend of mine and I respect his opinions. Jerry the Geek MiS |

I read that article. One thing that came to mind was since they are going the route of banning ammo because they can't ban guns, their own stupidity might help put a stop to it. Assume for one moment that the Heller case gives us what we hope it will - guns are a RIGHT, which may only be infringed for very good reason. Next, we take their owk stupid laws and turn them against them: According to the laws in various localities such as NY, MA, Chicago etc, ammo=gun. Their law says it, and they say it. Have ammo but no gun? same thing as a gun. So, ammo=gun, gun is protected, since ammo=gun, this must be too, so take your unreasonable restrictions and shove them. |
I'm sure they do. Seeing as how the companies that develop the technology are the ones pushing for the bills to pass... |
Could you please point out some great GOP victories durring the six years that they held the Congress and the White House? I remember the "Bush" tax cuts and my 300$ relief check, and appreciated it. I remember the No Child Left Behind that was supposed to hold teachers accountable, yet in reality just expanded the US Department of Education. Oh and the new prescritption drug benifits, that was a huge blow against the entitlement lobby. Before you trash the conservative third parties perhaps you should wonder why they have gained a small but signifigant amount of popularity in this state. Just look at the current chair of the OR GOP, former Democrat and Measure 5 supporter Kevin Mannix. Yeah measure 5, the reason why private sellers at gunshows in OR have to fill out Blue Forms. Maybe many people in OR are turning to third parties is because the GOP here is not only financialy bankrupt but politicaly too. This may have something to do with the fact that many local and state offices don't even have a Republican on the ballot. They can't play ball because they are already on the Democrats team. At least the Libertarians and Constitution Party can produce a bat boy, third base coach, and a couple of outfielders, while the GOP sits on the bench in the Democrats dugout, wondering why no one wants to see them play. |
+1 Thye Oregon Republican party needs a good clean-out, starting with Kevin Mannix. I have no idea why that idiot is still playing any role within the party, he is out of touch and unelectable himself, but still insists on trying to mold the party to his view of the world. |
How about concurrent receipt for VETS, or more important than perhaps anything else the TWO Supreme Court Judges. Those more than make up for ANYTHING else they may have/have not done. Also the last time many of us voted for a 3rd party we opened the door to slick willie, who was the 3rd worst pres this century. Roosevelt, the socialist, worst, Carter 2nd, Hoover 4th, and Wilson 5th. |

It is funny that this thread should turn into a pissing match over different conservative political doctrines. I was reading an article on Islamification of America that is relevant here. The way that entire cultures in Northern Africa and Turkey have been anihilated. The beginnings of the break down here. A portion of the article spoke of our (the conservative American people) propensity to argue fine points as opposed to working together. Which, if you haven't noticed, is something that the left has accomplished with great success. |
+1 They'll be able to track down all the slob shooters in the road side shooting spots and prosecute them for littering and whatever else. I'm sure they are only concerned with gang drive byes and criminal activities though, Yeah right. I don't think they care what the cost is, since we the Tax payers will be getting the tab. |
I won't argue that point -- its entirely valid. But I WILL stick to my opinion of that POS Mannix and the damage he has done to the OR Republican party. |
I'm with you on that. I will gladly support any canidate that is pro gun and anti tax, from whatever party. This doesn't change the fact that Flashpoint has before used the lable " Loosertarian" while defending OR GOP members that vote and act like Democrats. Supporting an individual or group that claims to be conservative yet votes and acts the San Francisco city council is more degrading than any argument between Libertarians, Constitutional, and GOP types. Oh and Kevin Mannix is a liability that the OR GOP can not afford. He is like a 5'4" 105lb blonde stripper that a 19 year old computer geek thinks is his new girlfriend because she smiled at him when he tripped over a chair at Jiggles. |
| not to hijack this thread back on track or anything, but didn't someone publish a major study stating that the "micro-printing" of brass and bullets is completely useless and ineffective at best? I so hope that Heller sets some good precedence for the pro2 so that the lefties don't have a leg to stand on anymore and they stop trying to F with our rights. But like i say, if they take away our 2nd I WILL do all I can to take away their 1st. |
