INCOME TAX But you do have us on the machine guns, SBR's, SBS's and shooting with suppressors....One of these days I may have to cross the bridge, but until then I'll shop in Oregon to save the sales taxes, and work in Washington. Steve |
Laugh at places with sales tax, esp when we stand side by side and do not have to pay it in your state, or we play with our NFA stuff. |
You know that is one of the sucky things in Washington, everybody should have to pay. It should be called a "convenience tax", it's more convenient to buy it where you are than drive to Oregon. Another thing that bugs the shit out of me is every time I go to WalMart in Vancouver they ask me if I am a Washington resident. I'm like WTF aren't we in Washington?

Sorta like push 2 for english? |

After growing up in oregon then living in Washington for 7 years, 1998 - 2005, then back to Oregon; I would much rather pay sales tax than income tax. I wish Oregonians would wake up and realize that a sales tax gets EVERYONE not just the residents of the state. A sales tax gets passersby, toursists, interstate transit drivers, travelrs, etc. Washington does not have near the financial problem that Oregon has; that is because Oregon's income is based on how many people or employed in the state. When the economy goes tits up like it did a few years back, the whole state suffers cause income levels drop. Washington however, keep sgetting a stream of revenue because the sales tax gets everyone. The gas pumping thing bugs me too; stop being so lazy and pump your own freaking gas!! |
Bullshit! If I go to WA and shoot my ODL I don't have to pay sales tax on products but do for the gas. That might be why wallyworld ask if you live in WA. |
BS right back at ya. That only works for Oregon reseidents and especially for those that remember to flash the ODL or even know about it. It still gets the many thousands people that go through that state everyday. Besides that it is a stupid idea that Washington should get rid of. |
Amen.

The problem with an Oregon sales tax is that we would end up with a sales tax, income tax and property tax. Taxes don't go down. Huge executive branch agencies don't go away. A sales tax would only cost us more. The state will always be complaining about money problems. That is because we do not have a "funding crisis" as the government agencies would like to portray. We have a SPENDING CRISIS |
+1 the OR .gov wants to add a sales tax and the WA.gov wants to add an income tax with both of them arguing that it would make for a more stable & predictable revenue source. The WA.gov has had to back down for the time being because they keep ending up with surpluses even after making huge spending increases. |
Hopefully the new forestry practices act, if passed will help eleviate some of those "needed" funds. Sure would be nice to have some timber receipts to help fund the schools, local government and emergency services again. |
AMEN!! I realize that we would never lose the income and property tax if Oregon went to a sales tax. That is simply because our politicians, like all politicians, are crooked and money hungry. They need to be more responsible with our money, but they never will be. The reason being is that there is no accountability. We as voters never seem to hold them responsible for their actions and just keep voting them in election after election. Bring on term limits and maybe we'd see a better legislature.....maybe.
Exactly my point. Washington ends up with a surplus while many years Oregon ends up in the hole. Granted we will be getting a kicker check this year but those are few and far between. |
