I have been going to the Burns area for rats the past several years but now my friends and I would rather shoot Chucks and Jacks. Anyone have some areas without giving away any special places. For the Chucks we generally try to find some at ranges of 200 - 400 yds. We plan our annual trip for the last week of April each year. It is a kind of annual "guys" reunion every year. Thanks, Robert |

Jacks? Heck, if you're out by Burns you're in the ballpark. Just don't go quite so far east. We do the exact same thing every year e.g. big group of guys meeting out there to help control the jackrabbit population. We call it "Varmint Jihad". Actually, there's enormous expanses of thick sagebrush due east of Christma Valley. There's gotta be good bunny populations out there. |

Four of us get together and load > 20 firearms into a Suburban for 4-5 days of pure fun. We started with rats and moved on to other targets. This year I cheated and took a new FN SLP 12g that was completely unfair. The SLP will get three rounds off in less than 1/2 sec with almost no muzzle rise. Needless to say I got stuck on the end of the line as we walked through the sage as "cleanup". Thanks for the ideas. See the link below from some past trips. http://roptics.googlepages.com/ |
Nice to know we're not the only ones. I've posted this before, but this seemed like a good time to share: Varmint Jihad 2006 |
I'm jealous. That looks super fun. |
