Well, at least I found it interesting, particularly parts of the powerpoint preso. Its an FBI report on some inaccurate rumors about the abilities of Speer Gold Dot .40 S&W and TAP 5.56 ammo. To me the interesting part is the ability of someone NOT on mind bending drugs like PCP to take considerable damage and still continue to present a danger, and on the falacy of believing that *any* round is a one stop shot (well, maybe a 20mm cannon shell ..). Link (You many want to allow your lunch to settle before looking at the powerpoint photos). |

Saw that last night. That guy sure took alot of damage! Can't believe he went through all that, and they still had to handcuff him! Photos weren't very pleasant..... I guess that just shows the reality of gunfights. Maybe if photos like that were shown in high schools, kids wouldn't go on to live the thug life. |

I found that to be very interesting and my thoughts on it have alterered my thoughts on the possibility of what I would do in a shootout. I always thought that a few well placed shots ie 2 in the chest 1 in the head would be enough. Well like someone in one of the threads attached mentioned, Shoot until the threat stops. Very good read and thanks for the link PhilipPeake. |

It challenges one of my beliefs too. When giving CHL classes I have always responded to the question as to whether to carry extra ammo/mags by saying that if you have a semi-auto which holds 13 rounds and you have used all 13 and are still in trouble, then another 13 is not likely to help. I am now wondering just how true that is. |
yup! bullets aren't magic. Double_trouble and I were talking about this thread this morning. a high motivation individual can be a real problem. Looking at that guy's tattoos, I'm going to go out on a limb and say he isn't a pascifist granola cruncher who's never been in a fight. He probably had an idea of what he was getting into when I set up his ambush. Also, never underestimate the human bodies ability to take abuse and still function. |

I guess that just shows the reality of gunfights.
