We went for years with Diesel up to $.60 higher than gas. Nice change for me.

But it still sucks.

You can either bitch about it and still pay the price or just pay the price. Either way they still get our money cause we still need the gas.

I hate how spendy its getting but oh well. I just drive a little less or drive my truck a little more cause it gets about 5mpg better than my Jeep.

The west coast pays for it's roads and repairs via gas taxes.   We have the highest gas taxes in the nation out here.   You wouldn't know it by the condition of our roads sometimes (we really need to ban studded snow tires!)

Last I saw it was $0.405 per gallon in taxes.  If you get 20MPG, that's $0.02/mi in taxes.

Taxes are fixed.  It's the oil companies and the camel jockeys that screw us.

It burns me up to put even one cent in the hand of those towel heads.

But whatcha gonna do?

from what I remember, the entire country pays for roads from gas taxes, and even though studded tires are bad for the road, I will use them as long as they let me.

These gas prices suck big time!

It cost me more in gas to go to the coast & back than it did for our camp site at Cape Lookout this weekend.

Yeah studded tires are bad but it's a trade of for safety.  They save a lot of lives because most people are too stupid and or lazy to put on chains and drive properly in winter conditions. Like everything else we have to favor the lowest common denominator.

well I guess all of the terrorist in the middle east need to fund their side of the war with something.  Kinda funny how we are pretty much paying for both sides of the war.

dobbler buddy pal........where are your facts?

All states pay a federal gas tax.  All states also have thier own tax on gas.

Oregon has LOWER total gas taxes than all our surrounding states......in fact we are about in the middle of all states for total gas taxes.

So the reason is NOT taxes

On a side note I TOTALLY agree with you on the studded tires.
