My wife's Volvo is in need of a brake job and I don't know of a fair brake shop in my area. I really do not want to take it to a dealer if I can help it because I always seem to get screwed by them.

So where  can I take this thing in the West Linn, OC, Gladstone area?

Thanks!

Does "fair" and "brake shop" belong in the same sentence???

My buddy who is very mechanicaly inclined would only trust his Volvo to the Volvo dealer in Gladstone. I believe its Jim Fisher but I could be wrong. His newer V70 has been nothing but problematic and they've treated him pretty fair on everything. At least I assume so cause if they didn't I'm sure he wouldn't take it back to them ever.

Not really in your neck of the woods, but I have been taking my vehicles to Ron's Front End and Brake on Foster in SE Portland for Many-Many years. Never been dissatisfied with the work or cost.  I have recommended family and friends there for a while.

Brakes are brakes.  Take it to brake doctors or Minakee.

Nox: Thanks for the recommendation, I may take you up on it.

If anyone knows anything else I'd love to hear it!

Robert still work there?? If so, tell him I said hi.

As far as OC/Happyrock....I would suggest, Palmer's, McCartney's, and Olson Bros.

I dealt with all 3 of these people in my 10 years sellin' parts on the 'strip, these three places I would not hesitate to take my vehicles to.

Brakes is brakes.  30 minutes in your driveway should do the trick.  If you have to have the rotors turned, take them to a shop.  Brakes are really pretty easy.  Even on a Volvo.

Ya, but even shops can screw 'em up.  My parents had Les Schwab do the brakes on their Exploder a while back.  My sister and her husband borrowed it for a Seattle Ikea run.  In traffic a front caliper fell off.  OOPS.  I know plenty of VW shops up there, not sure how much other Euro cars they work on.  Double J Motorworks comes to mind as someone to check.
