OK - I sent off 2 x form 1 and 1 x form 4 today. I'm going to use this thread to track their progress for posterity and general morbid curiosity about the bureaucratic process. I have each of them sent certified so I can track their progress and I will post when the checks clear as well. Also... I put "Less than 16"" and "Less than 26"" on both of the SBR forms, my last SBR was approved that way but some people have had theirs kicked back. So we'll see what happens. Oh, and I remembered to include the "I certify that I am a US Citizen form" this time. Updated - all forms recieved! 1. NFA Item: SBR (AR15) 2. Form Type: Form 1 3. Transferee Type: Individual 4. For comparison. Colt 9mm SBR First Form 1 Signed by me 1 April 2001 (April fools day... the joke's on me though) Retrned to me at some point (don't have the notes), but the ATF had changed their Form 1, would not approve my curent Form 1, I had to resubmit everything on a new Form 1. New Form 1 signed by me 4 July 2001 check cleared 8 february 2002 15 February 2002 "Pending" Approved by the ATF on JUN 05 2002 Yes, thats right... 11-months later |
Cool - I'lll edit the above to match that format. I'll add it in there when I get them all finished. Shhh... I can wait. Nerves-o-fucking-steel here baby. ![]() |
<---- Waiting sucks |
Kind of; I have a day job. LOL... it isn't like there is a box with cool guns sitting on the table at briefing with a sign that says "take as many as you like." The police have to follow the rules too. |
Well alrighty then! |
Id give it at least 2 weeks. im thinking they should be approved about 3 weeks after cashing. ...of course theres nothing stopping you from calling today. |
Ive been hearing from some guys in the NFA forums that theyre rejecting forms now that have "ranges" for length of barrel and/or weapon. I had one go through last summer that had length of barrel as xx - xxx, and entire length of firearm as xx - xxx. I guess its not cool any more. But, as pat said, put that in the additional comment/description section. I think that would work, but its really up to the examiner. |
It's always been like this. |

Do you like apples? Got both form 1s back today. They were mailed on the 4th. So they were kicked back onthe 23rd, I re-submitted with specific barrel lengths, sent them back in separate envelopes, and they were both approved and returned inthe same envelope. Happy Happy... Now I need to start bugging Vector about my SBR stock. |
