Anyone try or use this stuff?  It's about $5 more than Wolf per case (1000), and reloadable brass I'm told...

Bought a case from AIM this summer and used it for my FAS class. Ran flawlessly.

Shot PR with it, works OK. Not the most acccurate ( about 2 moa ) but gets the job done.

TF ran some of mine through his chrono after the match and it was reading between 3100 and 3200 FPS, if my memory is correct.

Where can you buy it around here?

Found mine at the last gunshow.......same guys that sell all the HSM ammo had it. $180 per 1K if I remember right.

Got a case (1400 rounds) from AIM. Out of our rifles it grouped 3.5 MOA. Fed XM193 does 1.5 out of the same rifles.

It was all hot and normal, with no malfs in the whole case. BSW

Hmmm that's pretty bad if it groups that much differently.

So are you offering it up or asking about it?
Leads on some?

It averaged around 3150 in a 20" barrel.

That's about 100 feet per second less than M193 spec but still decent.

I found two of the five rounds I shot went off as flyers in the 5 o'clock position giving me the worst group of the day. Three of the shots were in a one inch group at 50 yards with the two flyers making it about a 2 1/2 inch group. It was shocking to see. They would have been off the steel if shot at a 250 yard PR target.

Is Wolf generally more accurate and/or consistent?

The steel case Russian made .223 Wolf is inaccurate and low powered.

The brass case Serbian mad(e) .223 Wolf would violate my rule of rule of buying ammo from a country Clinton bombed the shit out of a few years ago. I expect they are still pissed and that might explain the occasional kaboom I've read about.

OK so aside from the $3.99/20 deals at GI Joes and most recently BI-Mart, what ammo to buy and at what price???

You can't shoot PR with it but here is some M855 ADCOM from the Sportsmans Guide.  I bought some a few months ago and after about 400 or so rnds, no problems.  I've heard of bad batches coming out back in 98 or 99 but the stuff SG is selling is more current.

ETA:  It's $175 per 1K before any discounts or shipping.

The link says 1990's Production, so I don't see how this is "newer" than a 98/99 headstamp

In that case the problematic batch is 98.  SG doesn't sell any of the 98 AFAIK... at least I'm not getting any from them.

Here's a link discussing the ADCOM ammo...

I think that if you fired more rounds (10 round group) you would find that those wern't 'flyers' but that the group would fill in.

Guat shoots, but if you're trying longish range (10" gong at 300 yards) hitting is going to take some luck. BSW

Guat .223 is great MG ammo.  Huge fireballs.  I don't care about 1 moa ammo.

LMK if someone around here is selling it.  I'd be in for 4 or 5 cases.  I know NoHair and Cape would be in for some also...

Surplus Ammo -- he doesn't have much left though.  I pre-ordered 1,000 at $175 to pick up at the show on Friday.  Also 500 Wolf cuz it's cheap and I want to see if it runs OK in my (NOW TWO!) AR's, AND some steel-core British military stuff so I can shoot Practical Rifle

Crap, I need to find some decent, but reasonably priced .223 to break in my new Predator.

Damn, what a shame.  I do have some WWB varmint ammo...

ETA:  Oh, and I already have a 1440 rnd crate of Guat 5.56
