So $175 is too much for a P22? So what can I get used in the $150-200 price range? |
Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mark II, High Standard, S&W Model 22A, Beretta Neos, etc. etc. |

Please consider the P22 as a second supressor platform. I and many people I know were looking at getting on for the .22 GB we had a while ago. I think a few of us even got one. You will find a few people that will say otherwise, but the P22 is justnot a quality firearm even considering it's price. You will best be sreved by getting a Buckmark or Ruger MK II or MK III for around the same price. Keith has had a Ruger MKIII /45 for $250 several times at the gun shows. Yes, it will cost you more to get the barrel threaded also, but you will have a firearm that you will be able to enjoy for years as opposed to haing one that you play with a few times and then wonder why you didn't get an accurate & reliable one the first time around. I have a Ruger MKII government target that i had TROS thread for me. I like it very much, but kinda wish I had started out with a touch shorter barrel. I am looking to eventually pick up one of the MKIII/45 that I mentioned above. |

What I am trying to do is go for the cheapest route, and with all the P22 fixes and the cheap one that is in the EE right now, would have been a good start. All I am looking for in accuracy wise is to plink pop cans at max 25-30 yards with da beamz, and keeping it compact. Anything more than that I have the 10/22. I've shot Gunkata's Buckmark. Very nice toy, but too bulky/heavy to pack around. Besides it's a target pistol at heart. (Sorry for the Hijack Ziess) I suppose I could throw a can on the Jamming Jennings .22

Whatever. My P22 has been exactly what I expected it to be. I bought it used and it has been 100% reliable with the approx. 1000 rounds I have through it so far. And even if it wasn't I would still love it. It's not like it's going to be used for carry so who cares if it does jam every once in a while? 22lr is DIRTY ammo and it can gum up anything, just keep it clean. As for accuracy I got the 5 inch barrel so it's great. The added bonus is that it doesn't look ghey like other 22lr target pistols IMO. Plus the laser that walther makes for it works just fine and is pretty cheap. Just my opinion though. |
Nox remember my P22 only shot reliably "Gangsta Sideways".. LOL
|
Buckmarks also come in lightweight versions as well. Most are geared towards target pistoling where about 40oz. is ideal. It's your money, you can do whatever you want. I've just seen too many people buy P22's, only to sell them off within 3-4 months. There's usually a reason. |
Hah! mine lasted 2 weeks |
Ziess, your can is BEAUTIFUL and matches your gun nicely![]() I want to see that thing in action on your rifle. Yes everyone should own a .22 can pfff, alll the NAY's, dont hate, Believe what Code3AK says. P22's, theyre cool. they look sweet, are easy to can, and are sexy to the ladies. Every ladies man NEEDS one! Plink-tastic quick and polymer-sexual. I have no complaints about my P22. Try one, if you dont like it sell it, trade up homie! Bottom line. It is a GREAT first suppressor gun ...at least! All you need is the $25-30 adapter off ebay to hush it. I think that was the main reason I bought mine. It has been nothing but fun and gun since. I dont want to let mine go but when it comes to me and pistols, -if its not for protection, its for trade stock-. |

Nice can, be advised quiet guns tend to multiply My P22 has actually been more reliable than my 22/45 and with a wider variety of loads. It has however been shot almost exclusively suppressed so it may not run as well without a can. My threaded 22/45 is definitely a more solid gun that I would expect to last a looonng time though. The P22 will not likely survive to be an heirloom type gun like I'd expect of the Ruger. Personally when I finally decide to sell the Ruger off I'll be looking for a buckmark. I think it's probably a better platform for a suppressed setup. Ironically I'm more interested in selling the Ruger than the lower quality P22

My buckmark + Tac. Solutions 4" barrel is wonderfully light. I havn't really had the time to even sight it in, let alone find out how accurate it is, but so far I think it was worth the money. The Buckmark itself is relatively cheap. The Tac. Sol. barrel cost more than the gun... |
I'm going the same route. I need to get the Buckmark though. I have all the pieces BUT the gun at the moment. |

Wher did you buy the can and how much was it? I'm in tigard and would like to get one. who stocks them? I would like to handle one before buying. mid august I will be buying one from some one. just not sure who. would like to start with a .22LR can that I can move from my 10/22 to my 22/45. next year step into 9mm can for the family of 9s I have. I have called the shops on the Class three list the only one Ihave been able to get a hold of was the class 3 exotic guy in salem very nice and has them in stock just a long drive. |

A few of us did a Group Buy on some of First Freedo Firearm's cans at the end of last year. I love mine. It's a bit longer and heavier than a Pilot and Outback II, but it's a bunch cheaper. It's also one of the quietest .22LR cans I've heard. IM me if you want more info or want to meet up to hear one. I'm thinking about getting another one down the road so it can stay on my 10/22. Nox |
I will be making a CAN or two purchase soon with RotorDemon. Let me know and I'll be talking to SOT that Everyone went through. IM me if you guys have any interest or questions. |
The can is from TROS, it was around $450. The only reason I bought this particular can was so that I could shoot my .17s out of it, otherwise I would have gone with the First Freedom can ( I'll probably get one too, maybe we should do a smaller GB on them again) If you ever want to shoot it, drop me a line and I'll meet you out at TCGC. |
|
I'll talk to Mike and run it through Petagunner in a while. Right now I have two TROS cans and the SAS 308 that I want to get going on. I also have a form 1 I need to get through. So that's almost $1000 for fees to Pat and the Government. What time frame would you guys be interested in? |
