Damm 70+ shooters. and we got done what more can you ask for. I did notice two of my stage score were wrong. Not that I would have gotten near a top ten finish. So it doesn't matter.

This is always my favorite match. One funny thing I did was turn my dot site to it's brightest setting, not a good idea. couldn't see the target. Oh well live and learn.

Allways a blast.. you really learn what your rifle needs and what it doesnt at these matchs.. becuse my Kobra ended up not getting sighted in i ran Irons there... damn on at least two of the Stages i could not see my frount sight.. some white or glow in the dark paint is in order for the frount sight..

also today at the Last stage a round of what looks like XM193 got drop in my ammo box.. no big deal normally i would see it and discard it. but today i dident see it and loaded it into my Mag not paying attention..

I fired the 223 round out of my AK it fired and even hit the target.. the case expaned to the chamber and ruptured.. thank god no one was hurt.. it sounded like a 22 shell going off and then a Pling as it hit the target..

i'm goina get pictures of the casing i went through my barrel with a bore light and besides a good cleaning its just fine..

Tonight was alot of great times. Met alot of new people as well as the last match i went to. Tonight was great in particular for me because i got to use my Bullpup and found that I didn't get Shells in the face shooting my bullpup left handed when a stage required it.( Stage 1).. Oooh that was tuff because the smoke and mist didn't have room to dicipate fast enought. Whit light + no shoot targes + smoke + whit targets = well you get the picture. ( my lazer looked cool )

Also that truck stage was nice since i fumbled around in the dark readying my rifle til the ponit where the target was going behind the no-shoot target and i said. WTF and sprayed 3 rounds right in the circle of the target.. LOL i didn't think i hit it and also I did not hit the Innocent bystander (no shoot target).

Congrats to Petagunner for TOP TYRO! and Cape Hunter for Pistol Cal Carbine category Winner!

That match sure was fun!

I like being able to try things I've never done before, like shooting a rifle left-handed around an obstacle.  Honestly, I'm surprised I was able to hit anything shooting like that...hug.gif

Anarx, that .223 round you shot was impressive, to say the least.  I think that's the wrong way to fire-form cases, though.

That was a total kick in the pants.  Great fun, great group of folks to shoot with, very professionally hosted and ran, couldn't ask for anything more.

I learned alot, learned what I need to work on, what equipment changes I need to do and what I can do without.

Anyone who lurks on here who has thought of going should not hesistate any more.  That was my first match ever and I informed my wife as I was leaving that nothing short of a family emergency would keep me from the next one.

Thank you to everyone who invited me!

That was a fun match. Of great note is that a .308 FAL beat every last 9mm carbine at the match.

I guess MP5's suck at night

I don't feel bad with some of my surprisingly high times. The guys running through stage 4 would have giving up the ghost if they tried that as a real life point man. Sometimes slower means you live through it. I know a few gamed it by memorizing target positions as well.

It's too sad .308s will be excluded next year. I guess I have to find an AR with a muzzlebreak to make up for it.

It was great fun and I am glad that my 9mm AR beat the SNOT out of 68+other carbines, ARs and FALS alike, on at least two stages!!! BTW did anyone even shoot and MP5 last night? The one person I though would didnt.

Was great fun and I learned alot. Its pretty cool seeing guys with lights zip tied to the forends and blacktapped to the barrels and still shoot as good or better then some VERY highspeed setups!

Was a safe fun shoot! Cant ask for more!!!

Congrats Peta for kicking some serious ass at this match. You stole WS4LIFs thunder!!!!

Tyro is what they call you when it's your first match at PR. So Peta was a Tyro last night. and he beat all the other Tyros so he won out of that category as well as finished within the top 10..

Last night a PR match i did notice something that i mentioned to a couple people. I noticed that alot of AR's were jamming.. I had no problem with my bullpup but then again it's Gas piston. But it seemed that weather and carbon fouling caused the issue.

or else it's just that AR's don't work at Night..

I would bet that 90% of the failures I seen last night were from fucking chamber flags not actual malfuctions. I see only two guns have troubles in our squad. Yes they were ARs.

OMG.. i hope this doesn't turn into a flame war.. I was JOKING!@$!$@%!. actually it was a hidden dig at when Jason had issues with the 9mm mag on his AR. on stage 3. Notice how he responded first?. and but then he kicked my ass anyway so..

I saw one other 9mm carbine with a couple of jams, but after overhearing the shooter it was mag related. Kinda crappy timing on figureing out your good mags vs bad mags.

I had 1 FTE on stage 1 and it really screwed up my program.  I was doin pretty damn well, cleared the first box pretty quick, moved lefty while moving to the left box, engaged left target then right, moved to the hole in the door and click.  Charged the rifle, click. Dropped the mag, yanked the bolt open while flingin the rifle sideways, slammed mag home, shut the bolt and finished out.  It was more mental than anything else.  Like Cape said last nite after the match, you punch paper and get a jam it's no big deal, you deal with it without any pressure.  Now to do it without losing a bunch of time was kinda harsh, but thank god not as harsh as if there had been someone shooting back at me.

I did like Cape's smoke grenade idea for next year, that sounded cool

Hey man - I wasn't crying!

What pistol caliber carbine was jamming?  Was it the one that takes Glock mags?  I've seen a lot of pistol caliber ARs have problems. They usually are good to go eventually, but they seem to need a lot of tuning to get just right.

In all seriousness, I saw a lot of deficiencies with people being able to do basic manipulation in the dark.  I think that when you normally look at your weapon to clear a malfunction, the time to clear it and get your gun running again is huge when you can't see.

Practice immediate and remedial action dudes!

A guy who has a shitty gun will be able to clear a malfunction and get shooting again.  He's not surprised when it happens and knows exactly what to do.   The guy who has never had a malfunction in his life will stand there and look at his gun like it has a dick growing out of it before the light bulb comes on and he fixes the problem.

That jam was a good thing for me really. I had not had any with that setup and when it happened, I found that with the colt style magblock a case/round can get hung up to the rear of the block and may no clear when you turn to dump the round. I actually closed the bolt 3 times with two in the chamber area before I realized what had happened.

Ilike9s had a few issues. I hope he gets them ironed out before hte next match as that is now two matches he has sufferedd time loss because his AR was fucking the dog.

As for the Carbine pistol cal AR, not sure what kind of mags they were using.  I think they only had 2 or 3, 2 guys sharing the same rifle.  WS4LIF spoke to them, they had a pretty strong German accent.  Kept all of thier extra ammo in a tupperware container. Give em credit though, they were there.
One thing I did notice when watching cape shoot, very minimal barell movement after each shot, very smooth, very fast, very rapid recovery from shot to shot.  The only other drawback I saw on the 9mm, on stage 2 with the first two targets that were engaged, I saw one shooter with a 9mm have to hit the target 3 or 4 times before he got a hit that rocked it back enough to show the glow stick.  Bummer.

You can bet your ass I'm gonna practice those drills some more.  I'll tell ya what though, that PRI big latch, cats ass baby.  One handed the first time I yanked back on it.  Pretty nice to be able to keep your strong hand on the weapon and do that, just too bad it didn't clear it the first time.

Pics of the "before match" 100yd range session are being downloaded now.
I'll post em in a minute or two.

Mine is a Stag/RRA 9mm with colt style block. FOr the most part it ran very well. Stage 3 really fucked me but I moved on and it ran well enough to keep me in the game the rest of the night. Another thing about that stage that I hadnt ran accross before was that my Eotechs ring/dot washed out from the light of the fire. I had to lean to the right and raise my left arm to block the light so the sight would illuminate. Makes me wonder how it will react around other types of light. Maybe I should have gone with an aimpoint.

Again the only other issue I had was the chamber flag. That cost me 1 round and a score of 9.7 on the mover stage.  But even with the malfuction I had enough time to clear reload and get all 9 shots off with time left over.

I had a couple of jams on Stage 4, which slowed me down a bit.  Funny thing is, I'm so used to my Mini-14 that I can actually feel when it doesn't go fully into battery.  Nice thing is all I have to do is nudge the charging handle forward, and it's good to go again.

On Stage 5, I felt like a real idiot.  I got the rifle uncased, loaded, and turned the flashlight on just fine.  Then, when I went to aim at the moving target, I realized the rear sight was folded down.hock.gif  I ended up shooting the stage with just a front sight.  All 10 rounds hit, but all were low.  None in the X-ring...he

I had zero jams or anything wrong with the AK. I have since weeded out all the bad mags.

The only issue I'm running into lately is that the Kobra is not appearing to return to anywhere near a zero when removed and replaced. My rifle was shooting about 4-6 inches low the entire match. It was zeroed at 50 yards before I took it apart the night before and cleaned it.

Teaches me to clean an AK again!

I dident really have a jam last night... the clouse'st thing was the 223 round that got loaded... but i went to clear it just fine... i dont know if my drill is right but heres how mine went *i think*

*Click*
Drop Mag & Charge
*click* pull BC back while shaking to the side
Click *after nothing came out*
pull BC look see case slam BC forward and pull back /w no results...  try to pull out with knife when realized would just brake the tip of the knife off...

i think my one malfunction wasent too bad... the only other one was becuse of the god damn MF'n Chamber flag... i know randys hands are tied on this but it would of been a hell of alot easyer without a chamber flag there..

Ohh and for all you guys wondering....223 In AK theres the pic of that round...

Jess

i know i need to be able to speed up with my shots.. it will be nice when i can run a normal practical rifle match with this gun and not have any kinks in the plan..

CH turn on your IM please, IM when you have.

I don't recall having any issues but my tyro did, but that was mostly weapon familiarity. He kept pushing the bolt release half way and it would bind up. I've never had problems with those mags as they are all cataloged so I can track problems.  The only problem I had that night was with my Burris M6X copy, the battery cap pop off on stage 3 so I removed the whole damn thing.

I'd like to thank every one that helped me and my tyro out.

Ok this is something interesting. check this out. at Stage 1. (and I beleive Peta was there) I was readying rifle and I found for some reason i couldn't close my bolt carrier. So i pulled the mag out and found a round fell out. didn't think any of it because i though it was a missfeed and went on. Today upon taking my rifle out of it's case i hear clanging noise. Tilted it back and two rounds of .223 fell out. they were in my forgrip area. came out of the cheap mag that someone gave me and slid into the Upper of my rifle.. the mag popped a couple rounds out of the mouth and into the side spaces of the upper receiver. LOL 1 was dented and one was dirty. I'm happy that heat didn't cause anything to happen to them inside there.
