I hate to tell you this folks, but as of the weekend of December 10th the Browns Camp Quary is no longer open to shooting.  My son an I stoped by there on that day, and the Quary was closed to shooting as they were mining the rocks.  The sign didn't say how long the quary would be closed, and maybe this is a seasonal thing that I don't know about, but I thought you all might like to know. hr

Been here a year nad you saved up your first post for that? You have some splainin to do!

So back to the topic at hand.  If the quary is closed, do we have a 2nd or even 3rd location in mind for the shootout?

What was the concensus about mamaloose or mamamoose (whatever) road?

I can make a Recon run next week say Tues or Thurs, but I don't know where to go look.

Memaloose's pit is good width-wise, plenty of room to park, but it's a little lacking in depth. I don't think it's much more than 150 yards at it's deepest point. I do think it could accomodate most of us though.
The only thing to watch for is ice....while the road is paved the whole way, it can get pretty dicey this time of year. But I would give it a +1 for an alternate site.

So where is this Memaloose's pit place?
I'll make a scouting run next week, but I have no clue where it is.  Directions? Major cross roads? Grid Coords? Telepathic Brain Scans......... ummm never mind, I just need to know where the place is, and I'll scout it out and report back.

East of Estacada....on 212 just past Promitory park....1st green bridge that crosses the Clackamas....turn right onto bridge, follow road all the way to the top, about 3-4 miles. The road has a few intersection, you want to stay on the main line, no turns. pit will be on your left side at the top of the hill. It will seem like forever and a day to get there your 1st trip up.....

I'm thinking we need an alternate just in case. That rock pile will be destroyed if we have the shoot out there...and that's not a good thing.

Oh, and it looks like Dad isn't coming out those weeks. Postponed until February. So, I'll be out there. PR probably too, although I still have to figure out what the hell is going on with my Kobra.

I need to know for sure it's not being cancelled if Brown's camp is a no-go.    I have to put in for a vacation day to attend.   Is there some easy alternative that comes to mind?

Memaloose is a beotch to get to if it's snowy.   That's a looooonngg way down if your rig slips.

Do you think?

You could get a few people on the left side of the pile to have a short pistole range.

BC is ok to go shoot by yourself or with a few ppl but not for hosting a ARF shoot.

I guess we're looking for an alternative location?   Memaloose is good ( short range tho) if there's no snow.     It would be very hazardous with ice/snow up there.

SO WHATS EVERYONE BRINGING!?

A little late on noticing that the thread moved, but if I'm able to get my stepvan up and running I'm planning on bringing everything.  Off the top of my head:

4 - .22
1 - .380
5 - 9mm
2 - .45 Colt
2 - .45 Auto
1 - .44 S&W Spcl.
1 - .45 Magnum
3 - 12 ga.
2 - .223
3 - 7.62
1 - 8mm
2 - 30-06
1 - 50 BMG

Oh yeah, and a partridge in a pear tree, even though it's a little late for that, too.  Wherever we choose to go, being able to have parking near the firing line would be a plus since I would prefer not to try to make walking trips more than loading and unloading the vehicle.  Trigger time will hopefully be had by all (tis why I have so much) and any extra ammo brought would be greatly appreciated!

If you're just wanting a basic stock, I have an extra wooden one you can have along with matching foregrip.  Left over after accessorizing my two and I'm never going to use it again; would rather see it put to use than tossing it.

Thanks. But the one I have on order is not a standard stock. I've got the poly one on it now. I also have an extra handguard and pistol grip (Cruiser) that came with it.
