W00t! I had fun. I would have done a hell of a lot better with some more energy on the last stage (getting punchy) and other "technical issues".

It seems I placed 18th out of 23 for irons.

I will be back.

Oh, and I thought breakfast was a good idea. We should do the same or similar next time.

EDIT: BTW, I thought Stage 3 rocked. That was a blast. Need more of that stuff. I did see the fastest guy was under 39 seconds! Hell, I was 25th overall at 73 seconds.

I had a great time too.

Does anybody have the results yet that they could e-mail to me? I apparently didn’t get onto the e-mail list last month; gave my e-mail address to Randy’s wife today, but don’t know if I’m in the system yet.

Also, who got DQed and for what?

Thanks, Chris

ETA: does anyone have Randy's e-mail address or phone number?

Yes it was a great day, and breakfast was excellent as well.

The person who was DQ'd did not clear his pistol before placing it back in the crate.  Simple solution to keep this from happening again would be to remove the mag & lock the slide open before moving on to the rifle part of the stage.

Here are the results.

Good weather, good people and a good match.  Special thanks to Lance for designing stage three and to Terry and Loren for setting up the stages.

Calendar:

Sunday October 30th - Practical Rifle in the pistol pits for 22 long rifle only.  Start at 0900 hours.  Sure to be fun!

Thursday November 10th - Marine Corps Birthday!  Semper Fi!  For many years our friend Mike Jones organized a birthday luncheon for us.  Now that Mike is gone, Ol' Bill Montgomery and I are carrying on his fine tradition.  If you have any affiliation with the Marine Corps, come have lunch with us at Wan Fu restaurant on State Street in Lake Oswego at 1130 or so.  Bill will read this year's message from the commandant.  There will also be Marines at the bar in Wan Fu from 1730-1930 hours (5:30-7:30 PM for swabbies, dogs and flyboys).  Please let me know if you plan to attend so we can reserve an appropriate area.

November 12th - regular match.

December 10th - night match, we start shooting at sundown, hopefully in the pistol pits.  Come hungry as Heidi will be serving up a hot spaghetti dinner during the match!  Expect special stages like the mover, deer in the headlights, etc.  I promise we will finish this match.

January 14th - regular match

February 11th - sniper match!  Small targets in difficult conditions.  Special match for true warriors.  Tell your friends that think they can shoot.

October 8th match results:

I would also like to add, that our Squad (#1) saw the stupidest thing ever at a PR match (according to Cape).

The story:

We are shooting on Stage 3 that has at least 4 movements. Not only that, but it starts off with both a loaded pistol and loaded rifle. Where this stage is, it in the Northeast side, with about a 40-50 foot berm. Now this IS a working gravel pit through the week. As a result, there is equipment laying about.

So, anyway, as one of the shooters was just about ready, some idiots pulled up in a fuel truck on top of the berm (the top is an access road). They get out, are screwing around with one of the big scoop shovel tractor thingy's. We stop, and Spambo yells up to get out of there, it's not safe, etc.

One of the guys on the berm promptly yells down, "F*CK YOU!" and continues with his work, while ignoring all of Spambo's requests.

WTH? You know, I feel nervous enough with some of you guys standing at the berm at Brown's Camp while I go place targets. Kinda creepy. Here, we were actively shooting, and these guys were right in the line of fire, 40 feet up. Not only that, but they just told about 15 armed guys below to F-OFF.

Yeah.

yeah that guy was a numbskull for sure.. i still say should of fired a shot into the ground to get their attention but then i'm bad like that..

I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys hopefully next time my alarm clock will wake me up..

anyway i will deffently show up at the rimfire shoot with my 10/22.

Interesting to hear the whole story from the perspective of your squad.  I was in the sqad behind your's and I saw the truck moving around up there, but I never heard the guy give the F.U. comment.   Does that guy think we're shooting BB guns?  Simply amazing.

I've seen these same guys drive their equipment up on the berm behind the 600/300 yard target area.  They aren't too bright.  They once almost came across the range during a 600 yard shoot.

Thanks for the pics Boo, its nice to show my boys what daddy was doing yesterday.
It was a great match even though I came in 29th. Its always good to meet new people with the same interests. And its nice to put faces with our call signs here.
I think after yesterdays ass whipping I will retire the AK and bring out the AR again.
Oh ya, and maby practice would help.

Yea, I think I got pretty well stomped!
Its my own fault though. I didnt sight in and thought I would be ok.... well I wasnt.
Then the trusty 1911 jammed on me...that didnt help. By stage three it was about getting as much trigger time as I could.

Was a great time and yes, the Eotech is going back on the AR. Maybe a 20"A2 the next time I run my mouth about shooting irons at the match.

BTW, Thanks Pribbz for the deal on the knife and Boo for das pic-a-tures.

Yea I'm definitely going to have to make it to one of these shoots.

So what's the deal with the rimfire shoot? I've got a custom 10/22 with a 3x9 scope on it. What kind of ranges would be expected? If I plan on showing up, would the 3x9 be too overpowered, should I plan on shooting irons, or should I look into finding a way to mount my Aimpoint on my 10/22?

SWEET!

So at least I found out why my Kimber jammed on me.... I was going thru the ammo that I had loaded in my 1911 mags and it all looked ok. Then I remembered I ran out while loading and grabbed another box from the locker to finish off loading the last mag. Well I grabbed that box to inspect them and they were full of reloads! Upon closer inspection found a few that had a bit to much flair. Live and learn I guess. I havent reloaded any 45 in over twp years as I have been buying in bulk. I guess better there then when I need them.

The crappy scores with the carbine were allllllllll me

SPeaking of malfuctions....
This is one of the reasons the PR matches are so great. Not only do you get time out with friends shooting but you really get to put your skills and most importantly your gear through its paces. This weekend was the first time I have every had a jam in that pistol. I was actually to a point were a jam was not even a thought while shooting it. Then while firing in the match, I misseed a few, got flustered and then the gun jams. I took me a bit longer to clear it and relaod then it should have. I learned is that this could happen anytime and you should be able to deal with it.

We had a few others with rifle issues. Even seen an Austrian gangbanger rifle jam up.

If you are going to trust your gear, know its limits as well as potential for failure.

Damn!!! I hate when life gets in the way of my playing with rifles.

These fall matches are the best - Not too many guys, cool temps and from the sounds of it - the rain skipped right by you - not that thats a deal breaker.

Sounds like another great match - looking forward to seeing you all in the pistol pits for the .22 match.

PS - some one, throw some screen names next to these pics.

Hey Boo, Great Pictures.  I just showed my other half pictures of the worst RO at PR.

Every time I do alot of RO'ing, I move toward "tail end charlie".  Anyway, it was a great
match.

Speaking of the numb-skull with the gravel company, this isn't the first time I've yelled
at them to move off the top of the berm.  The same thing happened at the 200/300 yard
range.  Why would anyone place themselves downrange from a bunch of strangers
shooting?  Stupid, there is no other explanation.

Does anyone know where GRAY is on that list. You all know him. One of the guys with all the tactical gear and the 29lb arf that was only missing turn signals. I think he was in the squad in front of us, on stage two it seemed like we were all gathering around to watch him shoot. I’m just curious how a second mortgage worth of equipment will help, I might have to mount an IR laser for the next match… make me 10-seconds faster.

Hey, why no pics of my fat ass, I'm feelin left out here.
10/10/2005 10:06:39 AM EDT
[#37]
Well, you know what I say...keep it simple. Take a flat top M4 looking thing, Slap on an EoTech and rear BUIS and run with it.

Let's see, from what I remember of Mr. Gray's rifle:

- 16" M4 profile A3
- Dr. Optics looking red-dot
- 45 degree canted scope mount with 3-9x Leupold TACTICAL scope.
- Forward grip
- Surefire light
- Harris bi-pod
- Laser mounted under the bipod
- Extra batteries in the grip.

So, I'm thinking at least $2400 if not closer to $2800.

My config above = $1200 and right at 8 pounds loaded.

Or you can always run an iron-sighted Romanian AK for the low-low price of $400!

It was really good to be able to put some faces with the names on this board.  I enjoyed breakfast and I dont think we freaked the restraunt staff out to badly either.    I would have liked to be on the AR15.com squad but by the time I got signed up the sheet was almost full and the other squads handn't been touched yet. Now.  Lets get the the fat jokes...  I'll wager that I'm one of, if not the fattest boy in this bunch, and yet, I seem to be on top of the scoring for this bunch...  hmmm....  Imagine how I could do if I could actually move...      Maybe I should work on that..  It had been 8 monthes since the last time I shot a match.  I have got to get out there more often.

Unka-Boo...   I'll be your internet friend

They keep score? Damm I knew I should have paid attetion!

I finished near last. but in turn had alot of fun. That third stage went from double tap to nutralize to  shots of fun!

I am actually looking forward to the night match as well as the sniper match. Wanting to run my 9mm ar through the paces and the night match should be perfect.

He was 24th.

I'd like to make it out of the bottom ten one day. But like CH said my groups where really nice.

I don't think I'll make the next one because I want to ISPC class so I may use a holster.

That and I'm thinking of taking a training course or two or ten. Should be in my future because I definately don't even have the basics down. I'll just blame the Navy for my shitty rifle training. Even though I am an expert... I've got the metal to prove it two.

$240...be careful. Some of those may also be lacking a bolt, carrier, etc.

I've been shopping my AK around. I've been asking $275, but you DID see it in action.

Another example why we need a "gayness checker" instead of spell checker in here!
