I've seen a number of pieces that SH3PH3RD has made, and they were all first class!!! Not to mention the fact that he's one of us!!!

In fact, I've been thinking all this past week about having him make a holster. So, just to put my $$$ where my mouth is, SH3PH3RD, if you read this, check your IM's. I need you to make me a holster for a Colt Officer's Model. After that, I'm thinking we need to talk about one for an EAA Witness P Compact....

Just got an IM from SH3PH3RD.

I have had to put holsters on hold, as I currently live in an apartment and it's just a little too difficult here with the neighbor/noise issue. However I am beginning my house hunt later this year, so that situation should change soon, and I would love to make you some if you still needed.

I told him that I'd gladly wait....  cuz I've seen his stuff, and I thought his prices sounded more than fair!!!

Mike Benedict at Talon Tactical does all mine plus I use his belts - really like his belts and use one with the synthetic rings for everyday use plus air travel.

I think people are not getting the idea here. They are still trying too help you find a holster, when I assume you make your own lol, and that you are checking for people IN the htf that bend. Also I agree on your opinion of black point. And I don't like their unfinished edges.

Ur on point. Was just seeing how many actually make them. My edges are the same as bpt for now. Working on my buffer skills. I made one last week for a Sig 1911/viridian light. Even epoxy a magnet in it to turn it of n on.

I'm in the process of getting set up to do it.  Only tool I lack is the rivet press, which I plan on getting soon.  Making a simple book press out of 3/4 plywood.

That's what I did. And diy vacuum is hard either. Just need a good pump.

Well it's not like edges effect the function or anything, but if I were turning out holsters at the level bpt is, I would want every detail to be taken into consideration. First impressions are everything. When I see one sloppy feature I tend to question the product.

I also started with just a book press, then built a taco/coffeebum press to make taco style holsters. Haven't gotten into the vaccuum game yet, but if I ever plan on making a legitimate business I'll have to in order to speed production. Probably purchase or maybe build a swift press.

Unfortunately I haven't found anything detailed about bulding a swift press, but look at HenryHolsters on youtube, that is the guy who makes and sells them, also google "henry swift press" for more info and other benders using them in their videos. I'm sure one could be built from studying those videos and there maybe more info under the vaccuum forming section on kydexpro.com

Nothing so far. Have all the tools I need already. Just accumulated over the years  from various projects. Just need to invest in the rivet press and dies then the actual kydex, hardware and such. Going to practice and do a few for myself and some friends and family. Once I work out the bugs and get better at it I may start to try to actually fund my gun ammo purchases.

Here's a couple I have done so far.  I have done quite a bit of "practicing" and have refined some of my techniques, particularly in the buffing of edges.  It's still just a hobby and I figure time spent doing this is better than that in front of the TV or behind a keyboard.

I agree with Emu! lookin' good Roland! Proper blocking is about 75% of a functional holster, and it looks like you get that. I do prefer to block out all of the controls, like the Glock the take-down lever in this case. While leaving this area un-blocked probably won't hinder proper holstering/drawing, It can accelerate wear in that area of the pistol and holster, and possibly produce little plastic shavings that can wind up where they don't need to be, ie the extractor and such. And kudos on tackling that revolver, larger ones like that can be a real PITA.

Nope, nowhere close.... Anyway, Any Idea on the style of holster you want? I assume OWB (i hope lol). There are different types. there are "pancake" style like the last few posted on this thread by Roland, and there are "taco" types, like the first one posted on this thread (the carbon fiber and green one). Also what kind of belt attachment? paddle? belt through? there are heavy duty ones available as well. and what kind of retention? level 1 or 2? colors? textures? feel free to ask questions as well.
