Anyone going? I try to go every year and enjoy it each time.
Seems like last year some members here weren't that impressed with it, so maybe it will be better this time. |

After many years of wanting to but never locking it into my schedule, I'm finally going this year. Heading down on Sat. morning. Any suggestions for a newb? Much appreciated. There's a very long line waiting to enter right at opening time, so either get there early, or arrive a little while after opening so you're not standing in line. However, parking is very sparse, so waiting a while after opening has its own issues. As you enter, most of the manufacturers are either against the walls or to the left. Most of the collectors' tables are to the right. You can walk pretty briskly and only glance over the tables and still be at the show for quite a while. |

How early do you have to get there to park and not wait forever outside? Last year we got there just before 11am, got out tickets(wristbands, whatever they were, went to one of the restaurants on site and came back around 12:30. There was about 10-120 people in front of us. We were inside. It's warm, but not in the sun. |

Ate at Burger King as I got off work at 1:30PM, no line. The show location, Galleria, is like the previous years, hot, hot, hot and stuffy. The HVAC system of that place need help.
Got in the show at 2:15, got out right at 4:00 with only $160 spent. LOL. Ran into some friends. |

Took my 6 year old son. He had a good time for the first half, then he was tired of walking, and getting bored. Understandable, as I was, too.
I got there and made a beeline for the Hoffman Blacksmithing table. I've followed Liam Hoffman on Facebook for a while, and I wanted to see some of the stuff he makes in person. That kid is good. Ran into James Yeager, whom I haven't seen in 10 years, and he still remembered me. Despite his internet persona, he's still a nice guy. John Willis is still a dick, and I didn't even care to talk to his entire booth. Picked up an ESEE-3S-DT for $60, with more extras than with which it normally comes. I've wanted one since Jeff Randall was working with Ontario for the RAT series. Now there are 3 versions of this knife out there- the OKC RAT series, the ESEE, and then the DPx HEST series. The last two are made by Rowen. |

The escalators did work yesterday. In previous years, the up escalator was out of order. That place is dated. I was shocked how low the lighting level in was, compared to the NRA and SHOT shows. |

The lighting was terrible, really bothered me. It seemed like they had dimmed lights that shouldn't be dimmed, the cycles were off or something. I left with a slight headache, and just a slightly lighter wallet. I must have missed the memo to bring a backpack or a man purse, some of those with them made it a pain in the ass to get close enough to some of the booths to see what was in there, especially the ones who would plop their pack on top of a display case. |
