Im looking at getting PRK eye surgery in Atlanta. Long story short, I wont be able to get this surgery until after January 20th, and I will begin a new job with the railroad in Atlanta on February 20th timeframe. I am also single, and my dad got PRK and he said he was on his ass not able to function for two weeks, on valium and percocet, and had to have my mother literally nanny him for two weeks.

My concern is A) Who is reputable in the Atlanta Area

And B) Is the recovery process still the same?

Any info you have about the process would be great.

Have you considered Ladin?  I had it done and was down for one day and running 100% the next. I can't speak to recovery time on PRK. I would highly recommend Woolfson Eye for any eye surgery.

Any reason ur not getting LASIK instead?  Cost isn't that much more... My recovery was really quick; I could have driven myself home were it not for the Valium they gave me ( It didn't work).  I can't tell u about Atl area (I live in Augusta) but there are several here have had it done up there.

Im in the Army National Guard, with aspirations to go to airborne school one day, and you can't with LASIK and you can with PRK. Both my old man and my brother are airborne, got PRK, and confirmed this.

And I have never heard of Ladin, to the other poster. What is that?

My wife had her PRK done by Dr. Eugene Smith and that was a '10yr re-touch" from LASIK at Emory Eye Clinic. Dr. Smith was first rate...

Day-um......PRK?.....Lasik?.....Hey, I suffered through radial keratotomy from an eye doc that learned it from the original Russian who developed it in the 70's.......TWICE!....Nothing like trying to hold perfectly still while someone carefully slices the lens of your eye repeatedly with a scalpel...... Waking up every four hours when the pain medication wore off, putting drops of battery acid (at least that's what the drops felt like...maybe it was alcohol) in your eye, screaming in pain, popping two more pills and passing out again.....for four days....wearing a patch over that eye for six weeks until the vision returned...
AND THEN DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN on the other eye....

But hey, as my wife points out, when the light hits the lens of my eye just right you can see the radial scars...she says it looks like the terminator....

ETA: Sorry OP, that didn't help or answer your question in any way....and after re-reading my original post I'm not even sure why I posted it.....Late night and tired I guess is my only excuse.....

...I should've just said "PRK and Lasik is for pussies" and been done with it....(J/K)....

I did PRK at Emory Eye Clinic 10 years ago. It was weird, but I had 20/15 after recovery. It was 20/200 before. I couldn't see shit for about 5 days, then I woke up one morning and everything was crystal clear. However, I have astigmatism, so after it all settled, I'm at about a 20/30, which is way better than what it was, and I like not wearing glasses.
