Well, what happened? Yall better work harder, Naamah is on yalls heels! Says the guy who's to fat to tie his shoes. ![]() |
|
Sylvan told RA that West was harder than Liberty, so he fixed that. I was hoping for top 10, but got 16th out of 77. It was a hell of a tough course. I got 2 out of 5 obstacles, but got all of the targets and finished a six pack.
It was still a blast though. Good folks, good food, and all the beer you can drink. |

Quoted:
Is there a designated area to throw up after the six pack? do you have your choice of cola? I prefer RC. He asks that people puke away from the shooting area. That doesn't always happen. I don't puke, so I don't have to worry about it much. You can drink any non-alcoholic, carbonated beverage. My drink of choice is Diet Pepsi.
|
Is there a senior division? I could probably compete with some of those I saw in the thread in GD but I would want a handicap. And does fizzy water count as a carbonated beverage? I couldn't drink 2 liters of soda in a year. I'm an animal on an obstacle course though, I make it through my garage in record time every morning.

If this is pulled off here, I'll offer my services as a home brewer. Wouldn't be the first time I've brewed a couple of kegs for an outing. I even have a ARFCOMer or two that can attest to my brewing skills.
Pick the style though, maybe a consensus on a particular brand and I can clone it. |

Closest you're going to get from me is BudVar which was the original Bud before they were sued. I make mostly European stuff, if you like German lagers like a Helles I'm your guy. |

Ok, so mark you down for no IPA's. Most European beers are fairly low on the IBU number (amount of hops used.) I personally am not a huge fan and as I have talked about before, most IPA's are so far out of balance or use hops to cover up technical flaws, their somewhat un-drinkable. |

Add in some cola and you'd have a brew. Might be a chance to experiment with Vidalia Onions in the batch, been toy'ing with that for a while. |

I don't know if cola means something different in the brewing world, but I think he just made a stout with Peeps in place of the sugar. Well, technically speaking the sugars come from converting the malts via a process. You'd still need to use at least base malt, also given that peeps are likely made with HFCS, the amount of fermentible sugars there would be rather low. One can use unrefined sugar, Honey, Agave, beet sugar, etc in addition to the malts that have been 'mashed.' The peeps would simply be broken down in the boil into the HFCS (or maybe sugar, I have no idea what they're made of.) I don't see the peeps adding any flavor because they don't really have any taste. Cola, (if you used cane sugar stuff,) would give the beer a boost in fermentible amounts of sugars for the yeast beasties to feed on. More sugars will lead to a high content of alcohol' (generally.) When I brew Belgians I many times use beet sugar in addition to a rather healthy grain bill. The amount of sugars in un-fermented beer (wort) is measured in brix. Have a high enough brix measurement, a very active, high alcohol tolerant yeast and it's off to the races. So, in short I can see the use of peeps but it still sounds a bit disgusting. We have at least one professional brewer on the HTF, perhaps he'll weigh in here.

I would like to request a German export beer . Binding if it is an option I brew a lot of Germans. I have a keg of Helles, a Bohimian Lager and a Spaten Optimator clone on tap currently. The wife is bugging me to brew my version on Paulaner hefeweizen soon. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

As far as standings go, I did better than I expected and came in 31 of 75. The obstacles were too much for me except for 1 of them. I did well on the shooting and puked on Cola 4 unfortunately.
Ytka and myself will be putting on CWSE next March. There will be a thread in GD about a month out from the event. We will post here and let you guys know when to be looking for the thread. We will also notify everyone on the Facebook page at the same time. If any of you have questions about the event feel free to ask us via PM. |

Not gonna enter CWE as I am too old and have back issues, but I can volunteer my services for whatever, RSO, referee, or beer taster. A homebrew hefeweizen sounds killer! Joe I'm sure we will take you up on that offer. As it gets closer to time we will need a hand with everything. |

As an GAHTF newbie, is there any way we can solidify a spot in the 2016 CWSE? Is there a thread that details how to sign up? Congrats to those who did well in CWE Not really a way to secure a spot unless you're already a vet, and even then its not guaranteed you're on the list because of how popular it has become. We'll run 50 people at CWSE in March. There will be a thread in GD you must post in and be one of the first 50 to say "100% in". We will post here first and let you guys know the day the thread will be posted. It is up to you to watch GD and make it into the thread. |

There will be a standby list though. GET ON THE STANDBY LIST!!!! People will drop out. Guys that started of with a bunch of people ahead of them on the standby list got to run at 5. If we have the space for spectators, show up. If you're there and there's time, you may get to run. Even if you don't get the swag, you'll get vet status. |

Will we get to know the date before the thread in GD drops? Just so we can get our peeps in a row so we can give that 100% yes I'll be there or I'll be on the waiting list. We can't give advance notice on the date. The main people helping out will know, but it wouldn't be fair for us to let the HTF know first. That goes against the motto of Cola Warrior, "Harsh, but fair." Everybody gets a chance. I can post in here right after we post the sign-up thread though. Your best bet is to have a few people working together to keep an eye out. I can't stress enough getting on the standby list if the main list is full though. Ask Wandering_Moses about that. He was a rookie this year. The list filled up and he got on the rookie standby. They went through all of the vet standby list and several on the rookie standby list as people dropped and he got to run. I think he had 16 people ahead of him. |

So what you're saying is tag this thread for an update to sign up? in that case, OST... Cola Warrior has gone nation wide, so the sign ups are open to all arfcommers... not just for the HTF. (Although, the way the CW is growing, they may need one in every state before too long) Anyhow... they have to play by the same rules as all the other CW organizers. So the sign ups are done in GD, and not the HTF of where the event is held. The events fill up fast... very fast! I imagine this first one in GA will be full very quickly..... as in hours... ETA... please correct me if I am wrong |

I wonder if CW vets from Liberty, CWE, & CWW are going to the regional Cola Warrior closest to them or are they going to try to participate in as many CW regionals as they can? Most will stick with the ones nearby (within a 10 hour drive), but some of them will go to as many as they can. I was really tempted to go to West this year, but I've got too many vacations already. |

Proof yet again the CW is not your average event.... Only a CW vet would consider "nearby" to mean less than 10 hours in the truck! |
