Any recommendation for an app and reader to take credit card payments via a phone?  Is Intuit better than Square or the others?  Anybody had any bad experiences with one?  Thank for any thoughts.

I use the paypal version.  That was easier for me since I already had a paypal account.  I have used the square before and didn't find it to be better or worse than paypals.

Beware of Square if you plan on doing any firearm related business, or anything else they don't agree with. Check out this thread from the archives:

We use Square. They have tried to improve there customer service but it is mechanical where it was nearly non existent. we have had thousands of transactions with only two issues. Both were self inflicted by not following procedures

I missed the linked thread...interesting to know and filed for when something better comes along

OK, PayPal has been all along, but has Square Deal, or did they bend under pressure from the Feds?

I think PP caved as I used to buy a LOT of Glock, etc stuff through ebay using PP back in the day. I try not to support anti 2A business, but sometimes PPP is a necessary evil.

Its just Square (not Square Deal which is Dillon). I was at one of the top 5 largest flea markets in the US (Daytona) back in November and Square had just cut off all the dealers at the flea market that did anything firearms related no matter what percentage it was of their business. Square's new merchant agreement directly forbids any FTF, Retail, Internet, Phone, Wholesale, or any other transaction that deals with ammunition or firearms. In September 2013, Square cutoff the largest gun dealer in America and shut down their account!

I hate to say this, but I will not do business with Square or with any merchant using Square!

For mobile credit card swipe transactions, I use Genius EX with a smart phone through Cayan.

If you try and use Square and they find out about it they lock your account and hold your money until you prove the transaction was for other reasons.
Square Sucks Don't use them.

Thanks for the thoughts.  Square is definitely out.

I use EMS+, unlike most other processors, they allow firearms transactions including non face to face transactions such as Gunbroker.  I even use them as the processor for my Magento e-commerce website.  http://plusbyems.com/

Square closed my account . Not for gun stuff . I read a thread on another board about using square to cash in gift cards . I cashed in all of my extra gift cards and square said it looked suspicious and closed my account . No appeal , no discussion, the decision is final . It did work well , They announced right after that about no gun stuff . I was using it for gun stuff

square closed my account as well. As long as I did charges on it for gunsmithing only they would keep the account open. I informed them that if I was using a card company I would use it for all transactions. Now I use Spark Pay.

I think ems+ has the lowest rates unless you pay 10 bucks a month for for a .35% lower rate from sparkpay.

We use Authorize.net. It's the most secure payment system out there.
