I have not considered a 9mm lower in the past due to the kludge that the magazine appears to be on 556 lowers and having to buy expensive mags.
I saw a pic of one the other day by quartercircle 10.
It uses glock mags which is a new plus and the receiver comes with the correct magwell.
Is that the lower to get?
Are there any disadvantages to this brand.
Is there another brand that may be better?

Thanks
And..... uh...  as always have a nice day

I got one of the colt pattern DDLES lowers, I think Qc10 bought or somehow acquired the design from them.

It's great, the dedicated 9mm lower is very nice.

The only reason I would go with the colt over the GLOCK would be last shot hold open, as I hear the GLOCK pattern doesn't really work reliably.

One of the biggest drawbacks to the design is the cost to SBR. If you SBR'd a regular lower you would be open to every caliber conversion there is. These are obviously only pistol cal lowers... Ever.

Quartercircle also makes a large-frame lower that will accept .45 and 10mm glock magazines, and I think it would work with the 9mm mags as well but I could be wrong.  Something to think about if you're deciding between a DDLES or other.

That is the one I plan on getting whenever i get around to putting together a 9mm upper. I essentially have a 3 lug mount for my Tirant and nothing to put it on. I was thinking about 4" three lug barrel on a spikes upper but to me the QC lowers were the only ones I was looking at as I already have a half dozen Glock 9mm 33rd mags and once mags are factored in I would be coming out better than anything else.

Then again that is ANOTHER lower to Form. I already have 5 SBR's and not really looking to add another one.

Funny, I was looking at the quarter circle 10 lowers the other day also. I'm not sure why but I've always wanted a 9 mm SBR AR platform gun.I bought a CMM G 16 inch 9 mm gun last year and was fully intend on cutting the barrel down for a SBR,but I just couldn't get the thing to run reliably even with spring, buffer change, Magazine and ammo changes

Pistol caliber  ARs with slower bullets?

I went the OTHER direction!

I went the QC10 colt - pattern route. I read about issues with with the last round bolt hold open not always working. I already had a bunch of colt style mags too.

If its Glock Mags you are looking to use then I say:

Lone Wolf LWD

JP GMR-13

DDLES

You can get 32rd ProMags for $15 from Cabela's several times during the year. I have a whole pile of them and they work great in the G19 and any of the above ARs.

You may have seen my thread about converting Uzi mags for use in an AR.  You can get 32 rd Uzi mags for as low as $8 a mag.  So that's the direction I'm going.  The Glock mag lowers are interesting to me, but I already have a bunch of Uzi mags.  Just giving an alternative.

ASC "colt" 32 round mags are under $16. I just got a bunch of 20 round mags for $11 each.

Thanks for the replies. I made the wrong assumption that colt mags were expensive.
That looks like the best choice. now with your info.
I read that he bho issue with glock mags  could be resolved by grinding the glock follower but I prefer the simple approach of using something that already works.

Mad_Machinist is currently building my 9mm with a QC10 lower. Having tried all the options extensively, I think it is the way to go.

He's also been involved in a shitfest with Ron Williams and both of them got banned. Not sure what's going to happen with that.

Disclaimer:  this is second hand info, I'm just relaying what I've been told. No link, I think it happened out of sight.

Well, the story is Rudy and Ron Williams (the other guy doing DI 45 uppers) got in a pissing match (started by Ron over who is endorsed by certain lower manufacturers as being the go to guy for pistol caliber uppers) which drew the attention of site staff (and from what I'm told was spurred on by a complaint from Ron), and now they're both on an indefinite time out, mainly for advertising as manufacturers without an industry partnership.  I guess whoever moderates the Pistol Caliber forum has been asleep at the wheel for the last few years, because both of them are well known for making DI 45 uppers and answering questions people have about them.

The QC10s fixed all the problems with the DDLES lowers and are extremely well made. Having touched/shot all of the above my vote is for QC10.

Mine is a dedicated RRA.  When i bought mine, I got a hell of a deal on it and the Glock mag lowers were vaporwear.

I like mine, Spikes buffer and mag block.
